Fair amount of head but a deep red/amber hue in the glass. Translucent. Taste is big on spiciness. Cardamon, cinnamon, allspice, cloves...with no added spice - truly exceptional. Explodes in the mouth, , but finishes clear and easy. Strength of alcohol does heat it up a bit on the palate. wonderful

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 2, 2010 bottle - pours dark brown with a light tan head. The nose is full of bubblegum, orange peel and spice, I detected the slightest trace of rubber but it did nothing to detract from the aroma. The taste was an explosion of baked bananas, caramel and orange. There was a slight hint of alcohol but considering the ABV was quite muffled, I also detected a slight bit of Borkum Riff tabacco as the beer warmed........Bravo-Bravo davisnmn (30), Connecticut, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Dec 28, 2009 This is an amazing and complex beer which almost has a Smokey flavor to it. A nice reddish brown tint with an off white head this beer is thick on the pallet true to Eisbock tradition. The alcohol comes across more than some others in the style but all and all this is a very enjoyable beer! markas101 (597), Fargo, North Dakota, USA
