hirigalzkar (400), Stockholm, Sweden Jun 28, 2009 Bottle. Ap: Beautiful red-brown-orange color with a creamy white head. Ar: Sweet and yeasty. Some caramel. Fla: Nice caramel sweetness, some orange and kind of a belgo touch due to the yeast character.Pal, Ov: Well balanced and extremely smooth. WeeHeavySD (2781), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Jun 27, 2009 Somehow haddened had this bought it a ways back. Pours rich deep orange with a tan head. Nose is sweet and malty and quite rich. Taste is sweet, rich, malty with big kicks of caramel. Yummers. Vertical Bacon Strips (581), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Jun 26, 2009 The pour produced a decent foam up of off white, rocky head that didn’t last that sat on top of extremely thick, dark brown muddy beer with a good amount of very fine silty sediment and slightly spotty lacing. The aroma was of alcohol , dirt, tobacco, some dark spice, smoke, maybe dates adn probably cherries. Very complex! Holy hell the aroma is great. The taste of spicy alcohol, dark fruit (plum / dates),caramel, sweet candy adn yeast make this a complex flavoured beer that seems quite balanced. Medium bodied with a velvety smooth feel despite the bite of alcohol. Has a soft, chewy sweet bready finish and a bit of alcohol as well. Leaves the mouth dry. The belch almost burnt my gut out. Drank the last half in under 4 minites. There was a bit of dustiness from the last couple sips due to the sediment chug. Obviously this is an excellent beer. GranvilleTim (289), Granville, Illinois, USA Jun 23, 2009 Cloudy brownish-red pour with a thick tan head. Nice aroma on banana, clove, and sweet malt. Sweet taste, banana and cloves, with sweet cocoa malt taste. Nice mellow balance taste between the the flavors-Alcohol isn’t noticeable. Nice aftertaste. Nice lacing on the glass. Borup (1165), Albertslund, Denmark Jun 21, 2009 Bottle. Deep amber colour with a nice off-white head. Aroma and flavour of yeast, hops, fruit, spice and caramel. hoppopotamus (156), New York, New York, USA Jun 16, 2009 A nice deep mahogany brown beer with a small off-whitish head that quits quick. Nose is spicy, with some dried fruit and a bit boozy. Flavor is complex, a lot of dark fruit, dried fruit, spice, a belgian yeasty flavor, and tart. Really delicious chewy mouthfeel. I’m no expert in wheats, or weizen bocks, but this seems to me like a belgian dubbel, I’m surprised it has wheat in it. Good beer! Indutiomarus (11), Kuwait Jun 16, 2009 Best Weizen Bock ever for sure. Pours a deep amber orange with a nice head of off white bubbles. Aromas of malt, clove, and soft banana. Clean malty slight-citrus flavor hits the tongue with a perfect amount of carbonation before giving way to caramel, banana, apricot, and hard candy. Then a clove like hop finish before going away leaving the palate awake and wanting more. World Class!
joeneugs (160), Livermore, California, USA Jun 15, 2009 I can’t believe I’ve waited this long to try this one. One of my new favorites. I’m kicking myself now for stupidly pouring this into a pint glass. I would have enjoyed that massive head of foam much more in a glass like the one pictured here. I don’t have to describe the appearance, just look at the picture. Stunning. The aroma is complex with raisins, plums, banana, prunes, clove and other spices. A bit salty. The taste is equally complex with prunes, plums, raisins, and a wonderful spicy character thats by far the best in any weizen bock I’ve had. It ends on a wheat note with mild bitterness. Its medium bodied and goes down very easily. A great summer brew that is light, but massively tasty!
