Commercial Description:
Dark ruby, glistening mysteriously, streaked with fine, top-fermented yeast, this beer has a compact, stable and long-lasting head. It has an intensive, typically top-fermented clove-like aroma. The palate experiences a gentle touch, on the tongue it is very full-bodied, compact and yet fresh with a hint of caramel. It finishes with a light and delicate taste of bitters leaving behind a strong, smoothly rounded, sour impression.

2007 vintage. Apperance: Dark brownish with a huge head. Plenty of carbonation. Aroma: Ripe fruit, Dark caramel, Candi sugar, Hint of chocolate. Flavor: Ripe fruit, Wheat, Caramel, Prunes, Sugar, Hint of lemon. Palate: Rich and complex with an incredible drinkability. Lots of carbonation after 2 years in a bottle. Smooth small bubbles. Ok, i’ve had this fresh a dozen times but after reading that Garret Oliver recommended putting this beer down for a few years i decided to do so. Very different to what it is like fresh but the drinkability is still awesome with added complexity. Wow!

Bottle. I absolutely loved this. Beautiful and aromatic, malty and fruity as one would expect of the style.

04-JUL-2009. Bottle @home. Beautifull brown but hazy colour with huge off-white head. Malty and fruity nose and taste. Good carbonation, and slight heat from the high ABV. Very delicious, but I cannot tell this from Carlsberg Semper Ardens Abbey Ale. Well this one is a bit more fruity, but maybe I should try them together?

Poured a beautiful dark liquid. The nose was set off with incredible touches of cherries, grapes, malt and a floral scent. Mouthfeel had a thick, rich and velvety texture. Taste was of cloves, banana peel, caramel and spices. A wonderful beer!

The pour produced a decent foam up of off white, rocky head that didn’t last that sat on top of extremely thick, dark brown muddy beer with a good amount of very fine silty sediment and slightly spotty lacing. The aroma was of alcohol , dirt, tobacco, some dark spice, smoke, maybe dates adn probably cherries. Very complex! Holy hell the aroma is great. The taste of spicy alcohol, dark fruit (plum / dates),caramel, sweet candy adn yeast make this a complex flavoured beer that seems quite balanced. Medium bodied with a velvety smooth feel despite the bite of alcohol. Has a soft, chewy sweet bready finish and a bit of alcohol as well. Leaves the mouth dry. The belch almost burnt my gut out. Drank the last half in under 4 minites. There was a bit of dustiness from the last couple sips due to the sediment chug. Obviously this is an excellent beer.

Cloudy brownish-red pour with a thick tan head. Nice aroma on banana, clove, and sweet malt. Sweet taste, banana and cloves, with sweet cocoa malt taste. Nice mellow balance taste between the the flavors-Alcohol isn’t noticeable. Nice aftertaste. Nice lacing on the glass.
