ha1ag (415), Maastricht, Netherlands May 3, 2009 Bottled, tnx to DH8VV. Color is hazy dark rown with warm nut brown transparency. Huge off-white head and sweet nose where the alcoholic kick comes through. Aroma is dominated y sweetness and stingy alcohol, which should have been hidden better. Reminds me the Weizens but finished as duppelbock. Flavour is dominated by malts, alcohol. slitcher (87), Freeport, Illinois, USA May 2, 2009 Pours a dark brick red with a thick white head. Aroma of cloves, banana and brown sugar. Flavors of banana, vanilla and roasted malt with a hint of bitterness. Highly carbonated and VERY refreshing. An outstanding beer. Changed (161), Ithaca, New York, USA May 2, 2009 1 pint bottle. pours hazy brown- very nice to look at. Little to no head, no lacing (might have had this one a touch too chilled... or it is an old bottle?) Aroma is typical fruits. Flavor is complex and very enjoyable. High carbonation, some bitterness in the finish.
This is my first venture into the Wheat-Doppelbock realm, and I’m impressed. This beer is a winner! EricE (446), Fairfax, Virginia, USA May 2, 2009 Clear deep brown pour with a thin light tan head. Bubblegum and clove aroma with sweet candy and malt. Very dry with clove, banana, and bubblegum. Bitter finish. Smooth and creamy. noompa (130), Chicago, Illinois, USA May 2, 2009 500 ml. bottle (2008) in a weizen glass. Pours a deep mahogany w/ a complex color profile approaching the edges, large ivory head that eventually remains steady at a half-inch height, thick and creamy. Bananas and cloves dominate the nose, especially the latter- huge cloves and undertones of anise. Vanilla comes through in the very first sip; crystal and dark malts give it a complex, rich malty profile that leaves a ’ring’ reminiscent of hastily eaten cotton candy. Bananas are even stronger in the flavor than in the nose. Full in the mouth and very quenching. Some bitterness at the end disappears as the beer warms up. Lovely brew. fidel (884), Livermore, California, USA Apr 29, 2009 Poured Amber brown, caramel, bananna, spice, malty, bready, little dark fruits. Thomo (9), Doncaster, Australia does not count Apr 29, 2009 This is a classic beer. Intense, dark colour, good head yet the balance of strong spice, chocolate, cloves and caramel makes you want to go back for more!! Fills the palate and pleases the appetite. gerardoluna (195), Mexico Apr 28, 2009 Eyes. incredible cream head. goood carbonation and yellow pale color
Nouse: Aroma was citrus, clove, frutal banana aroma.
Tonge: The flavor is good and very complex. Many fruity notes malt wheat yeast and citrus. it is very cream and smooth.
