Elwood (654), Leesburg, Virginia, USA Mar 29, 2009 1 pt. bottle. It pours a hazy dark amber with a tall, light tan head. Boozy fruit aromas abound with wheat, spice, and yeast notes as well. Medium carbonation with an initially sticky then dry mouthfeel. Lots of flavor here. Ripe fruit, wheat, roasted malt, alcohol, and candy sweetness. Lingering spicy wheat taste. Definitely clove and vanilla in there. Lots of clove. Excellent drinkability and definitely a beer I would have again. AmEricanbrew (1747), Louisiana, USA Mar 24, 2009 Murky dark amber with a light tan head. Dark wheat and spicy caramel aromas. Medium body. Lots of sweet wheat flavors here, clove, bananas, with light roasted malts and spices. popkow (107), New York, New York, USA Mar 21, 2009 Pours a huge head of fine beige head. The lacing is also of particular interest. This hazy brown has the great combination of wheat interjected with malt overtones. Finishes with a note of hops and a touch of clove. lithy (1600), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Mar 20, 2009 100th March rating. Hazy orange brown with a thin finger of off white foam. Lovely banana and clove spice aroma. Taste has more chocolate up front, with a caramel and banana fruitiness in the middle and a light spice finish. A fantastically varied beer from the front of the lips to the back of the throat. Anker (305), Hillerød, Denmark Mar 18, 2009 On tap at Ølbaren.

Nice mouthful. Mdgutows (42), Charlotte, North Carolina, USA Mar 15, 2009 Pour a hazy brown with a large fluffy off-white head that stick around. Nose is very spicy with some banana, caramel, chocolate, malts, yeast, grass, and wheat. Flavor is also pretty spicy with some wonderful sweet flavors coming through. Bananas, dark fruits, hops, clove, vanilla, chocolate, yeast, wheat, and caramel. Very high carbonation and a dry, bitter finish. Excellent. One of the best. McGarnigle (302), Rochester, New York, USA Mar 14, 2009 .005 hectalitre botle with cryptic numbering. Looks clear while pouring, though when massed in the glass it looks cloudy. Medium brown, tall head. Smells slightly of banana and clove. Lots of flavors, including brown bread, raisin, cocoa and tartness. But I was surprised at how light, or at least non-heavy, this is. It’s almost refreshing. One of the best wheat beers, one of the best doppelbocks. Case (29), Germany Mar 13, 2009 Comes in a beautful glass specially designed for the beer - glad to see Germans learning a bit from the Belgians. ;) Pours a dark brown with large off-white head and great lacing. Aroma of bananas and spices, slightly sweet. Taste is malty sweet with bananas, bread, cloves, dark fruit, caramel, a faint hint of rum. Mouthfeel is full, ultra-smooth and a real pleasure to sip. Basically imagine a dunkles Hefeweizen with all flavours and aromas turned up to 11. Impressive and imposing complex beer and yet so easily drinkable. Contender for one of the best beers brewed in Germany.
