Commercial Description:
Dark ruby, glistening mysteriously, streaked with fine, top-fermented yeast, this beer has a compact, stable and long-lasting head. It has an intensive, typically top-fermented clove-like aroma. The palate experiences a gentle touch, on the tongue it is very full-bodied, compact and yet fresh with a hint of caramel. It finishes with a light and delicate taste of bitters leaving behind a strong, smoothly rounded, sour impression.

Not too bad. This has a nice thick head to it. Color is a light brown/ dark gold color. This has a mild malty aroma. Taste is full of a sweeter malt flavor. For 8.2% abv, this might be one of the smoother brews I’ve had the pleasure of tasting. Aftertaste has a very slight but pleasantly bite.

500ml bottle. Maple syrup-like color with a huge, rapidly dissipating, tan head. Aroma of sweet malts with banana, dark fruit, and cloves. The flavor adds a bit of spice and bitterness. Nice warming alcohol with a delicate carbonated mouthfeel. Aftertaste is fruity and slightly sour.

Poured cloudy dark amber with ruby hue. Great beige head. Aroma was typical banana with some malt. Flavor was great, malty, banana-wheat. Somewhat sweet, nice alcohol bite in the finish. This beer took me by suprise, overall amazing, I love it and can’t wait for my next bottle.

1/21/09 From the bottle. Aroma is rich dark fruit forward with light alcohol and a clovey background. Appearance is hazy tan with a well maintained cream colored head. Flavor is tart, candilike and rich with low alcohol. Mouthfeel is creamy, medium bodied, with a very low carb texture. Overall, very yummy and rich.

What’s left to say about this beer? It’s a world classic and one of my faves, starting with the pour: a towering white head over a richly-coloured mahogany body. Before the first sip, I drink in a complex aroma that includes the standard banana-clove trait, but also dried fruits, grain and a slight nuttiness. The smells carry over into the taste, but make up only a part of it: add big dark malt flavour, nutmeg, plums and a sweet finish. There’s a slight alcoholic burn, but it’s subtle considering the actual alcohol content. Full-bodied, smooth and a pleasure to drink from beginning to end.

fantastic alcoholic, malty and yeasty, like mischung of cbock and kristal weizen, darkred-brown body, fantastic firm head, It is a very important beer as i drank It with my newly married wife in Vienna in a small cafe during our honeymoon trip, I love its complexity and palate, 1 bottle is too little to enjoy it fully, I will one buy more of them and get drunk halfdead - this will be sublime

Pours an appealing tan with an off-white, foamy head. Tastes like a much darker beer. Taste is sweet with noticeable hints of fruits and sugars. Very enjoyable beer.

Great German beer, very malty taste. Has hints of plum raisin and has a very mild aftertaste. Very tasty beer well worth trying
