Spinshag (3), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA does not count Feb 12, 2009 This is the king of wheat double bocks. I call this my "nap" beer. I have one of these and it is a best nap ever. The sweet yeast and mellow aroma are perfect with the 8.2 ABV. The fruits and tartness are perfect. Try this and you’ll be hooked! jebb12 (39), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA Feb 12, 2009 Like the last guy said there’s not much to this beer’s aroma. The magic’s’ in the taste. There’s chocolate, bananas, bread dough, grapes, miscellaneous fruits and strains of coffees; just great, one of a kind, hard to describe without experiencing it. The best way I know to rate beer is by comparison to other beers of the same style. However, there’s no comparing Aventinus to any of its brethren. I’ve had the dunkel wheat Franziskaner and Hacker Pschorr but they don’t seem to be playing the same game as Aventinus. World class! suchen (81), , Pennsylvania, USA Feb 11, 2009 My favorite of the wheat bocks. First thing I noticed was the incredibly thick, long lasting head. A not particularly enticing aroma, but the feel in the mouth was very full and rich. The a.b.v. was apparent, though well balanced and not overpowering. Fred82 (344), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Feb 9, 2009 bottle, pours cherry-brown. Medium white head, lots of carbonation. Strong yeast aroma. Long finish, nice hints of alcohol. Fell carbonation on the palate. Awesome beer, well balanced. Rating no 16 gary07734 (391), Tyne & Wear, England Feb 8, 2009 Bottle into stine, pour is definetely more murky brown than "dark ruby", big foamy off-white head. Smell spice, wheat, yeast, alcohol. Taste is sweet, sugar, some fruit, dried prunes, figs, cherries, sour finish without much alcohol, and a lot of carbonation. Not as interesting or complex as I’d expected, decent enough but not remarkable in my opinion. lakersfan16 (53), Anchorage, Alaska, USA Feb 8, 2009 16.9 oz. bottle.
Pours reddish-brown with a good amount of off-white head. Fruity aroma that includes apples, cherries, bananas, and raisins. Flavor is slightly sweet with malts, bananas, raisins, and alcohol. Smooth and nice palate. altonbrownd (1862), Amsterdam, Netherlands Feb 8, 2009 Brown body with large bulging head. Fruity and spicy nose. Taste of bananas and raisins comes through. Also malts. Quite sweet. Bitterness in the finish. albertane (376), Nottingham, Nottinghamshire, England Feb 6, 2009 This brown beer has an orangey glow and orange peel and cloves in the flavour, which is dominated by raisins, currants, and other dark, dried fruits. There is very little bitterness in the finish; most of the flavours are at the front of sides of the tongue.
