Sonicdescent (372), Donora, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 6, 2009 Very nice appearance, nice thick white head over a thinner brown/red liquid. Not much in the way of lacing. Scent is a robust combination that leans toward the wheat end of the spectrum, but has hte darker notes behind it. Very cool. Taste is also leaning toward the wheat side, as the doppelbocky notes are only hinted at in the aftertaste. Very good,e specically with the more carbonated feel. A good good beer. WVHouseofBeer (332), Morgantown, West Virginia, USA Oct 5, 2009 Poured a dark reddish-brown color with a good sized, long-lasting fluffy off white head. Decent spicy aroma, but where this beer really shines is in the flavor and palate departments. Excellent sweet flavors of banana, vanilla, chocolate, and a creamy finish. Solid offering from Schneider. reverendj (33), Brunswick, Georgia, USA Oct 2, 2009 my very first bock beer........what a way to start! Deep red pour with a thick lasting head. Caramel malt and bananas very evident in the nose. I tasted toasted sugar, bananas, a little vanilla and chocolate. A very complex brew. Thanks to Peggy and Mitch at Ned Cash Jewelers in Brunswick, Ga. DonKi11uminati (43), , Indiana, USA Oct 2, 2009 Bottle from the Village Bottle Shop. This is a very interesting and worthwhile dopplebock. A lucky find. The aroma has bread, vanilla, syrup and fruit- almost similar in some ways to many Belgian ales, but thicker. Pours dark and opaque with a lot of head that dissipates shortly with little lacing. The flavor is rich, full and satisfying with strong notes of spice, fruit, grain and even chocolate. The finish is long and complex, ending with some sweet fruit and bitterness. The high alcohol is not too noticeable, but warms and bolsters the beverage nicely. This one is definitely worth checking out if it is available. Will probably get this one again. Niko100 (81), New York, USA Oct 1, 2009 Updated: Nov 6, 2009Dark cider color; Rich creamy body; Aroma of malt, vanilla & spice; Flavor is combination of malt, banana & citrus – some chocolate overtones as well; Great finish on this one; I have to note that this a strong beer; Along with Ayinger Celebrator, this is one of my favorite german brews – definitely give it a try! Fratto (662), Arlington, Texas, USA Sep 27, 2009 Bottle from the Majestic on Eastchase. Dark brown pour with a lot of white head. Aroma is grains, malts, and spice. Taste is fruit and a little chocolate, some dark fruit. Great aftertaste. Smooth, rich mouth feel. mkel07 (494), Brisbane, Australia Sep 27, 2009 500ml bottle. Well carbonated cola colour with a peaked pillow of foam. Rich aromas of banana, vanilla and cloves with a faint chocolate background. Fruity with a big hit of alcohol. Spiced fruit flavours dominate. Macadem (100), Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada Sep 26, 2009 Smells kinda mentholy or minty, reminds me of crest toothpaste. Also has aromas of cigar tobacco and ash. Tastes of chewing tobacco, brown sugar, molasses and subtle citrus notes. Really nice lacing in the glass.
