danielcurtis81 (879), San Diego, California, USA Sep 26, 2008 Getting notebook online. Bottle. A quality beer with good caramel tones. Cloves come through nicely as well. Good drink but a bit overrated. AsaNewt (113), blackpool, Lancashire, England Sep 26, 2008 Updated: Nov 20, 2008this is velvety smooth with a fine dark colour and a sweet enchanting aroma. the flavour is sweet with a hint of cloves in a sort of xmas pudding without the stodge way. nice sour notes to the finish. unbelievable beer! BeerFanDan17 (610), Land O Lakes, Florida, USA Sep 22, 2008 I tried this several times and just realized I haven’t rated it! One of my favorite bocks. Chocolate and caramel are evident--full bodied, yet smooth. One of my favorites. JohnQPublic (387), Brooklyn, New York, USA Sep 21, 2008 Bottle into Weizen glass. Pours straight up hazy brown, big foamy off-white head. Nose is brown sugar, banana and cloves. Variation from a standard hefe nose, but only because of the brown sugar. Taste is sweet - caramelized brown sugar, banana and cloves, hints of dark fruit without really asserting, crisp and fairly light. Noticeable alcohol, especially towards the finish. Mouthfeel is crisp, light, fairly standard hefe, with a bit of dryness from the alcohol. really interesting beer. jhagmar (114), Gothenburg, Sweden Sep 21, 2008 Bottle, thanks ekstedt. Brown with white head. Banana, raisin and alcohol to the nose. Sweetish taste with some acidity. Dry mouthfeel. DrDavid (957), Johnson, Vermont, USA Sep 20, 2008 (Bottle). Very fruity, sweet aroma. Beautiful dark red brown with a huge head. Taste is sweet plum and other fruits, extremely powerful flavor profile, and the alcohol is not intrusive. A bit too sweet for me, but I can easily see why it’s so highly regarded. thendrix (7), USA does not count Sep 17, 2008 Bottle. Just a darn fine beer with fruity sweetness, and good alcohol notes near the end. One of my favorites when dining at the local German place in Plano Texas. donfardz64 (406), Wellington, New Zealand Sep 15, 2008 Pours hazy orange/brown, off white head. Aroma is very nice, sweet bananas and chocolate with malt and caramel. Some fruitiness also. A very drinkable beer for 8.2%, barely taste the alcohol at then end. Sweet flavour of caramel and banana, some nice roasted malt, slight bitterness at the end. Enough dryness in finishing to make you want another sip but still pleasant. Very good.
