Commercial Description:
Dark ruby, glistening mysteriously, streaked with fine, top-fermented yeast, this beer has a compact, stable and long-lasting head. It has an intensive, typically top-fermented clove-like aroma. The palate experiences a gentle touch, on the tongue it is very full-bodied, compact and yet fresh with a hint of caramel. It finishes with a light and delicate taste of bitters leaving behind a strong, smoothly rounded, sour impression.

Caramelly, coffeey, nutty, spicy in aroma...a nice dark brown with a red tint, just a little hazy, like an early morning before the dew has evaporated....just sweet enough for me, not too bitter, for I am a shrew that hath a bitter tongue already, with just a touch of sourness...very light bodied to me for a dark beer...smooth and slick like satin when it touches your lips and slips around your tongue and down your throat like angel’s tears...finishes clean and fresh, with nothing bad lingering... My favorite thus far in my drinking career.

pours an extremely dark brown with red tints, moderate head. Malt, plum, dark fruit, cinnamon, and raisin are all over the nose. Flavor is very similar, but extraordinarily good- the dark sweetness is phenomenal. Palate is ever so smooth. Very unique and delicious brew.

Pours dark ruby brown with one finger beige head. Aroma is a malt assault- chocolate and raisin, date and plum. Flavor had every malt facet covered- creamy, chocolate, and loads of dark fruit- without the roast. Palate is sticky and smooth. Wondrous.

Bottle. Rich gray head and a dark brown color. Aroma has earth, bananas and clover. Really nice thick flavor of banana and plums, also that nice bite from the actual alcohol. As it warms up also more of the pepper flavor finds its way out. Just excellent beer.

Cloying malt sweetness and too much alcohol. Doesn’t even look good; ugly brown color. I can’t get into this one.

Bottle, Beer Ritz, Leeds. Poured a dark reddish brown with a big ol’ white head which lingered nicely. Aroma was clove, banana and yeast. Flavour was dark malt, chocolate, spice, plum. Creamyish mouthfeel. Mild sweetness with some bitterness in the finish. Could well be one of the best tasting German beers I’ve had thus far, but can’t help thinking this is a tad over rated on here.

500ml bottle. Beautifully cloudy reddish brown with a nice fine head. Big aroma of wheat malt: bananas and cloves, with a touch of dark fruit. Big, complex malt flavor, with lots of everything: bananas, figs, cloves, and a touch of chocolate and caramel even. Just enough sour in the finish to keep it from going over the top. Great full body. This is the weizen bock that sets the standards. Was even better at the brewery on tap.
