Commercial Description:
Dark ruby, glistening mysteriously, streaked with fine, top-fermented yeast, this beer has a compact, stable and long-lasting head. It has an intensive, typically top-fermented clove-like aroma. The palate experiences a gentle touch, on the tongue it is very full-bodied, compact and yet fresh with a hint of caramel. It finishes with a light and delicate taste of bitters leaving behind a strong, smoothly rounded, sour impression.

Bottle. Gusher!! Popped the top on this one, turned my back for a split second to grab a glass and as I returned it was spewing out the top. Dark brown once I got it in the glass with a fizzy tan head that settled out quick. Dark fruits (raisin & prune) in the aroma with molasses and light alcohol also noted. As it warmed some spices and banana also came out in the aroma. Dark fruits and malts in the flavor. Also some clove and slight smoke in the flavor. Full body that is bitter in the beginning but ends sweet. Tingly carbonation and a slight warming feeling.

Pour is dark golden/brown with a fizzy head. Aroma is real fruity with a lot of yeast. Flavors include more fruit, sweet wheat, more yeast, and finished with caramel malt. Another damn good brew. Would buy again.

500 ml bottle. Deep murky brown color, tan head. Yeasty aroma with lots of banana. More banana in the flavor, as well as wheat and notes of alcohol. High carbonation, full body. I may have to re-rate this later, because right now I don’t see the reason for its popularity.

500ml bottle in weizen. Large milky tan head lasting like frosting on a cake. Murky toffee colored body ... head just wont go away ... Yeasty aroma with some nice toasted malt smells of molasses. Fruity notes hit immediately with a more robust sweetness taking over from there. Orange, currents, some others. Slightly bitter finish. A bit too sweet for my taste, but complex and beautiful.

Bottle brown, 500 ml
Appearance: Pours hazy fat brown, pastel in hue, gently carbonated body with ridiculously huge, off - white, brown, pillowy - frothy head, very vivid and form very regular near the beer base to rocky at the top. There is an impressive lacing, very compact firm head and well defined body colour, naturally brown.
Aroma: Very well pronounced, sweet and pleasant banana, intensive clove, rich in juicy sweetness of banana, coconut, gentle notes of milky chockolate, white chockolate, peanuts, gentle toastyness and notes of mature prune and plum spiced up with a kind of chalky harsh character. Despite its high alcoholic content it is perfectly hidden. Very complex with notes of vanilla and dunkel - roastyness. Notes of cherries, prune and resin.
Flavour: Nice full bodied flavour starting with mature oakyness, wood bark, very high bitterness for a weizen or a bock beer that binds your tongue at the very start, later this bitterness is covered with a gentle alcoholic warmth, later on the aftertaste becomes chalky and finally slighty accidic with gentle sweet accents of caramelly and prune. Impressively complex in flavours begining with banana - carrot - raspberry - clove oriented dimention to prune - plum - red grapes notes spiced up with a robust bitterness, gentle alcoholic dryness and crystalized honey accents. Nice aromatic complex nose. Really huge beer of 3 types of malt: wheat, Munich and seasonal combined with sophisticated yeast strains and hop types contributing to a perfume like nose.
Palate: Body is full, texture is moderately wattery, carbonation on palate is moderate, finish feel is complex, hifhly astringent, clean and intriguingly mineral.

Well, I guess you can take the boy out of America, but you can’t take the America out of the boy. My point being that I just plain am not impressed with this beer. I mean, it is a really good beer, from an obviously good brewer, it just doesn’t have the "wow" factor that I was hoping for. It pours a cloudy dark reddish brown, with huge dense head. aroma is sweet, as well as the flavor.
