Commercial Description:
Dark ruby, glistening mysteriously, streaked with fine, top-fermented yeast, this beer has a compact, stable and long-lasting head. It has an intensive, typically top-fermented clove-like aroma. The palate experiences a gentle touch, on the tongue it is very full-bodied, compact and yet fresh with a hint of caramel. It finishes with a light and delicate taste of bitters leaving behind a strong, smoothly rounded, sour impression.

Nice head that remained for the duration as a light ring. Reddish-brown color. Sweet, fruity nose with a touch of clovers. Malty somewhat carbonated intro with a super smooth mouth that transitioned to a milk chocolate and malty finish with hints of overripe bananas. The alcohol is present but not cloying. Some smokiness is detectable in the aftertaste. I forgot how good this beer is. I felt like I was in Germany and Austria again.

Incredible beer. Extremely complex, I don’t know where to begin. First of all, there was none of the syrupy sweetness that I was worried about. The beer starts off with the lightly sweet taste of plums, spices, bananas, and some vanilla and yeast. The finish is lightly bitter and lingers. Very carbonated. Highly drinkable for a strong beer. Full bodied and full flavored. No alcohol taste.

Bottle from Westmere in Albany. Pours very dark brown with great carbonation. Tastes of banana bread. Alcohol is well hidden. One of my favorite beers.

Update rating: 2002 vintage. So many layers of flavor on my palate. A lot of fig and prune, malt, and spice, chocolate? Alcohol present on the nose. a lot of sediment. serious meaty yeast nose, coriander spice. Darker color then I had expected, thick head. Fruits, not necessarily dark, belgian style hops, coriander spice, malty notes, meaty yeast for sho. So enjoyable

meaty like a jerky. Would be great with brisket. Smoky sweet notes and a touch of banana corieander. Smother and richer in body than expected. Ruby mahagony light lace and a nice head.

Absolutely amazing. Easily in my top 3 beers. I love wheat based bears, and this is up near the king. So smooth, so flavorful, sweet notes and finishes very clean. I’ll be buying a case.

50cl bottle from Total Wine (Jacksonville, FL). Pours a dark, cloudy dark brown with a white, creamy two finger head. Good head retention. Smells of malt, cloves and spices with hints of bread and yeast. Flavor is rich and malty with hints of caramel and with a soothing barley finish. Excellent weizen bock, one that we drink nearly every week.

A clear dark amber colored beer, with a huge light beige foamy head. An aroma of roasted malts, cloves and some sweet caramel. The taste gives a nice mouthfeel, with notes of clove and caramel with banana tones. A very nice beer.
