Comments: A very nice ale, overall, and an amazing array of flavors. Much different from all of the American beers I’ve been enjoying. The subtlety of flavor compounds, texture, and aroma are exquisite. A fine ale, but not necessarily the first thing I’d go for, though for someone who appreciates complex and fruity flavors, it’s an amazingly complex and inviting drink. delirium2 (4), ridgefield, Connecticut, USA does not count Mar 8, 2008 wow what a great beer whether on tap or from a bottle this beer is up front , it is amazing because I am not into fruit or chocolate notes in my beer but this has a definate banana and chocolate taste but by the time you have swallowed the taste is gone and you actually need and want more and more,,, wow enough anyway you can get your hands on it TylerJ (1), USA does not count Mar 8, 2008 There is a strong aromatic presence of clove that intertwines with a yeasty and sweet smell reminiscent of bananas. As for appearance, it is a cloudy caramel with a light cream colored head that disappears quickly. The flavor begins with a clove oriented spice mix which rolls into a nutty taste and ends with a very slight sour and tangy taste. It leaves a fizzy sensation on the tip of my tongue and creates a slight film on the roof of my mouth, however, for the rest of the texture it is slightly creamy and very smooth. Overall this is a complex beer that encompasses a myriad of pleasures for the mouth to furnish the drinker with a good experience; I will definitely be partaking in this beer again. naivepegasus (183), USA Mar 7, 2008 Pours a cloudy reddish brown with about three fingers of rapidly dissipating white head. Prune, caramel, and just a general kick of malts hits you with the aroma. Really soft mouthfeel, it starts off with a hint of clove and spice, and morphs into a light caramel malt and banana aftertaste. Almost a creamy, I’d say "velvety" mouthfeel. This is just a overall solid beer. RollinHard (749), Fort Worth, Texas, USA Mar 6, 2008 This one of those beers that if you try it during your craft beer infancy, it’ll just absolutely stun you with it’s deliciousness. Pours just like the picture basically, khaki colored head eventually settles into a creamy long lasting foam. Aroma is very spicy and jumps into your nose with cloves, mild banana, smoke, hay, caramel, brown sugar, holiday bread, and maybe even a bit of gouda cheese. Taste of cloves and spices at first followed by a nice caramel sweetness, raisins, a bit of smoke on the roof of the mouth, some grass. Finishes with a bit of banana and fruit flavor, followed by a sort of nutty tasting dry sensation, slightly tangy. Highly carbonated, but very creamy feeling, drinks effortlessly. This is the absolute benchmark of what a weizenbock should be and to boot, it’s top-rated and widely available. What more can you want? slipx (3), denham springs, Louisiana, USA does not count Mar 3, 2008 This beer turned me into a borderline alcoholic last week. I blew like 100 dollars on this beer, I actually bought out the local store that sells it, and after that I bugged the stock guy to tell me when they’re getting another shipment in.
8.2 alcohol/volume, but you can barely taste the alcohol.
Drink two of these and you’ll be feeling right.
aroma reminds me of cafe’au lait mixed up with grapes, wood, and a slight hint of butterscotch.
tastes almost like candy, and must contain alot of sugar...I say this because I spilled a few drops and within seconds, it was ultra sticky on my skin. How to explain the taste? Butterscotch, grapes and other fruits I can’t identify, along with woody/earthy notes. You can barely taste the alcohol, but believe me, after half a bottle you’ll definately know it’s there.
Three bottles of this stuff and you’re done for, lol beerbill (1918), Laurel, New York, USA Mar 1, 2008 16.9 oz. bottle courtesy of a trade with douglas88. Pours a cloudy brown with a moderate off-white head that lasted until about mid-glass and left partial lacing. Pleasant aroma of caramel, grain, and sour fruit. Very nice bright flavor with caramel, bananas, tart cherries, and grain all present. Very smooth at the finish with a well-rounded mouthfeel. The alcohol was very well hidden. I really enjoyed this beer.
