Commercial Description:
Dark ruby, glistening mysteriously, streaked with fine, top-fermented yeast, this beer has a compact, stable and long-lasting head. It has an intensive, typically top-fermented clove-like aroma. The palate experiences a gentle touch, on the tongue it is very full-bodied, compact and yet fresh with a hint of caramel. It finishes with a light and delicate taste of bitters leaving behind a strong, smoothly rounded, sour impression.

Schneider Aventinus is excellent. Aroma is of banana with a strong hint of wheat. The flavor is mainly of fruit and wheat with a little bit of an alcohol taste

Draught at Bar Great Harry. Poured into the smaller (33 cl.) Aventinus glass. Dark brown with a frothy off-white head. Cookie malt aroma with clove and some fresh hay. Smooth sweet malt flavors accented by the basic banana yeast profile and a slight wheaty/lemony tartness. Lively carbonation. Nice tasting classically rounded flavors, though I can’t say I’m overly floored in the end.

Bottle. Pours deep hazy brown with a moderate off white head. Smells of clove and sweet malt. Taste is rich and strong with pleny of sweet but balanced with an alcohol finish. On the tounge there is a nice sensation and airy mouth feel. A very nice Doppelbock.

Pours a very nice, dark brown that is a tid bit murky. It smells of spices. It taste of spices and licorice and is a little bit to sweet for my taste. I did enjoy the palate, it left a nice sensation on the tongue and had a slight warming. Overall I would say that it was an ok beer but I have had better, just not my style.

Letdown. I thought it was too thin. Taste is sweet with malt, molasses. Little bittering finish. I appreciated the beer but expected more.

It’s hard not to be affected by the hype, but this beer has lots of hype and I was eagerly anticipating this one. Aventinus pours darker apple cider brown color with a huge head that dissipates very quickly. Bananas and clove are readily present in this one (lots of banana). Beer really sweetens as it warms as banana flavor goes nuts with some bubblegum thrown in. Increases in complexity dramatically as it warms.
