Commercial Description:
Dark ruby, glistening mysteriously, streaked with fine, top-fermented yeast, this beer has a compact, stable and long-lasting head. It has an intensive, typically top-fermented clove-like aroma. The palate experiences a gentle touch, on the tongue it is very full-bodied, compact and yet fresh with a hint of caramel. It finishes with a light and delicate taste of bitters leaving behind a strong, smoothly rounded, sour impression.

0.5 L bottle@Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. A fingerthick, creamy sand-colored head upon a near-clear, plain brown colored body. Beautiful, rounded, gently sweet, wheaty malt aroma, added by subtle scent of slightly perfumed fruity and floral hops. Taste has a delicate sweetness from a soft, wheaty malt body. A fine fruitiness underneath. Supersmooth in the mouth. Full body. Fruity finish with an acidic touch. Finally I’ve tasted this gem, a delicious beer.

Copper ruby pour with a great creamy head, too bad it doesn’t leave any lacing. Aroma is full of dark fruit, wheat, sultanas, banana and cloves. Sweet clean malt underneath with notes of caramel. Pretty damn good! Crystal and possibly chocolate malt combine with the lighter wheat to create a very interesting mix of flavours. Dark fruit is once again evident, along with more caramel and some alcohol, which lingers in a very pleasant finish, much like a belgian strong ale. Mouthfeel is a balancing act between the refreshing light body of a weizen the fullness of a rich, malty brew. I wouldn’t have thought of it, but it’s amazing how the light wheat combines with the smooth malt of a doppelbock.

Clovey less banana than glockenspiel - a little flat cola-ish. more assertive, not as good as glockenspiel. Smells great, a litle cinnamony. Feels beautiful in myh mouth, thick and bubbly. Sweet beginning, less sweet flavor.

Bottle. Aromas of bananas mostly with lots of chocolate. Mouthfeel is very creamy thin bubbles delivers the flavors perfectly. The aromas are perfectly delivered in the taste, banana cake with cocoa. For something so readily available this is one of the best.

Love this beer deeply but wanted to make a few comments on the 2004 Vintage that I drank last night. -Rummy flavours softened -Deeper dark chocolate taste -Mouthfeel was very smooth with no trace of acidity. Actually seemed creamier on the tongue. -Finish ended off drier that the regular version with more of a slight herbal rhubard taste and less sugar

A cloudy dark brown beer with a nice looking 3 finger head. Aroma was spicy & complex almost like spicecake. Taste was banana, chocolate, spicy, & bready with a cake like taste, & undertones of wheat. This beer really looks good in the glass & dazzles with a lot of carbonation activity. I do not know that much about bocks but this is my favorite, & probably one of the best in the world.

Body dark red color with a huge head that disappears extremely quick. Very weird, no head left at all and lacing is nowhere to be found. Smell is different and complex. Notes of caramel, chocolate, raisins, plums, and licorice. Taste was about the same. Not too sweet and has some bitterness in the aftertaste. Mouthfeel is like a cream soda in a way. Pretty dang good beer.
