Commercial Description:
Dark ruby, glistening mysteriously, streaked with fine, top-fermented yeast, this beer has a compact, stable and long-lasting head. It has an intensive, typically top-fermented clove-like aroma. The palate experiences a gentle touch, on the tongue it is very full-bodied, compact and yet fresh with a hint of caramel. It finishes with a light and delicate taste of bitters leaving behind a strong, smoothly rounded, sour impression.

Pours dark copper with an ooff-white head that goes away fairly quickly. Aromas is very rich and sweet with some creaminess - fruit is detected as well. The aroma is very big. Mouthfeel is medium / full and very creamy carbonation. Taste is creamy roasted malt with butterscotch and toffee. Very rich and dessert-like. Finish has lots of toffee and a bit of sourness. An amazing beer.

Wow. Love the dark colour and the wonderful malty smell. A great beer, one of my favorites.

16.9 oz bottle - Pours dark amber with almost no head and some big floaters, though I tried to pour carefully. It smells of yeast, caramel malt, and alcohol. The taste is sweet and caramelly with mild alcohol presence and a hint of spice. Some hops turns up in the finish. It’s good, but I wasn’t quite as impressed with it as many have been. Maybe I’ll have to have it again sometime and reconsider.

Long awaited. Looks like cloudy apple cider. Alittle stronger than I anticipated in the initial flavor. Flavor is surprizingly somewhat like Penn Weizen! Finish is a little more bitter than I would like...and it lingers. Alcohol content stands out in the drinking. Victory weizenbock tastes better. I’m not sure why this has such a high rating. Figures, ...will not buy again.

Looks and smells like a Dunkelwieizen, with an accent on the malt aroma. Full and smooth on the tongue, with a sweet touch that's not overpowering. Very nice beer.

I have taken the opportunity to try this beer a number of times over the years. Sampled from a 16.9 oz brown bottle the beer poured a cloudy dark brown color with a large tan head. The aroma was sour malt and a bit of fruit and wheat. The flavor was malty, had some wheat flavor and a bit of molasses. Sweet malt lingered on the finish. Very pleasant.

Incredible aroma, with baking banana nut bread, clove, toffee, just a slight hint of citrus and a touch of alcohol for good measure. Ample head, light tan streaked with darker bottle-runnings (swirled and poured) and lasting at least a day. Attractive, opaque deep reddish-caramel color with a good bit of sediment. Flavor is very satisfyingly malty, with some toffee, doughy, estery and spicy yeasts, date, nut and again a light dosage of alcohol. Finish is creamy and quite long, lightly astringent and full of yeast and malt flavor. Full bodied and with a satisfyingly thick, velvety mouthfeel. This is the rightful standard by which all other Weizen Doppelbocks are judged.
