Commercial Description:
Dark ruby, glistening mysteriously, streaked with fine, top-fermented yeast, this beer has a compact, stable and long-lasting head. It has an intensive, typically top-fermented clove-like aroma. The palate experiences a gentle touch, on the tongue it is very full-bodied, compact and yet fresh with a hint of caramel. It finishes with a light and delicate taste of bitters leaving behind a strong, smoothly rounded, sour impression.

Bottled. Pours a dark amber with a light tan head. The aroma is dominated by cloves, with a bit of citrus and toffee behind it. Creamy medium body and medium carbonation. The taste is sweet without being syrupy, again dominated by cloves, with some vanilla, bread and toffee leading to a spicy, very lightly bitter finish. The earlier comment of ’One for the holidays’ is pretty much spot on.

Pours deep redbrown with huge beige-brown sudsy head. Strong aromas of banana, cloves and yeasty bread. Very smooth. Initial malty caramel, followed by an aftertaste of banana with hints of citrus, spices and hops. Very nice.

who knows when: dark existence with a mellow red gleam...off white head started gigantic and bubbley but shrunk considerably...aroma of a bowl of chereos with grain alcohol instead of milk...fizzy start...wheaty with wierd alien tongue tinglers..medicine...berry flavored maple syrup at IHOP...spicy..maybe nutmeg or cloves... a tad sour with a lingering alcohol wheat aftertaste...still not my thing... Re-Rate 11/23/02: clove encrusted banana fumes...very spicy and yeasty, an aroma thats growing on me...yeasty backbone and spicy sweet malty foreground with notes of banana, cherrios, cloves, french toast, and warming heat..I like this beer this time..hell i dont know what i like or dislike anymore..

Bottle from BevMo La Mesa. Nice sweet aroma, vanilla. Tastes sweet, like a Belgian abbey but its German. Roasty, sweet, earthy, wheaty in the finish. 8% abv. Excellent beer! Awesome glassware too.

500 ml bottle Opened with a pretty good hiss. Pours a brown color with a huge light tan head. Light lacing as the head settles. Aroma is full of yeast and esters. Flavor has a wide range of sweet fruit (banana) and spice. Very little hop presence. If I tasted this beer blind, I would have probably said it was some type of Belgium brew. I was hoping for a little more malt. Medium body. A good beer.

Aroma was fruity and carmelly if that is possible. This beer tasted alot like it smelled. It was really smooth without the strong alcohol that I expected. The first half of the bottled poured and drank and looked like brandy. The second half looked like a cloudy homebrew and had an increased slight yeasty flavor. Overall this was a good beer but for the money there are a number of beers I would choose over it, but it has a novel wineish palate wash to it.
