Commercial Description:
Dark ruby, glistening mysteriously, streaked with fine, top-fermented yeast, this beer has a compact, stable and long-lasting head. It has an intensive, typically top-fermented clove-like aroma. The palate experiences a gentle touch, on the tongue it is very full-bodied, compact and yet fresh with a hint of caramel. It finishes with a light and delicate taste of bitters leaving behind a strong, smoothly rounded, sour impression.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy brown with a medium-sized white head. Aroma of light fruits and some BBQ sauce, if you search for it. Taste of bubblegum, spices (clove), and some vegetable. A very good weizenbock, although I’m not sure I’m a fan of the style as a whole.

Bottle at the White Horse, Parson’s Green, 18th Jan 08. Pours a hazy mid brown with a big, persistent white head. Great glass too. Very strong sweet aroma of vanilla and cloves. Very smooth on the tongue, with a sweet chocolatey malt taste. Overall, a lovely beer.

Amber color with a huge foamy head. Foamed over when I opened the bottle. Well carbonated. Lots of sediment and even a hop leaf were floating in this. Aroma was sweet and hoppy. Flavor was way too sweet for me. Maybe I am not used to the Weizen Bocks, I haven’t tried enough of them. Sweet and Syrupy. I won’t be going after this one again.

Re-rate. Nice orange color with light tan full head. Malty clove banana aroma. Thick and sticky malt flavor. Lingering clove malty aftertaste. This is the way that I remember it! Yuck. Mustve gotten a bad bottle. God awful! Was looking forward to this too. Will need to re-rate at some point.

Reddish dark brown with a gem-like glow, substantially tall evenly bubbled light tan head, frothy topped and whipped with a few divets and little sparkly specks within the foam. Fades slowly to a heavy skim always present but very little lace sticking, most drips back in. Aroma is citrusy and spicy with mild lemon and orange zest mostly coming through, lighter wheat and malty sweetness, musty yeast, and clove spices engaged within. Taste is a total brigade derived from the smell, pretty sharp toned up front with a strong wheaty carbonation that grabs hold right away and sticks with ya the whole ride through. Middle strikes with a yeasty take and citrus zest of lemon and orange, carbonation finally settles out and leaves prickly notions of malted sweetness with some dark fruityness of banana and starfruit tangyness and spice that lingers with a light chewyness that smoothes it out some but that carbonation really stands out and adheres to your mouth. Quite a ride in the feel dept., lots of hold and carbonation that creates lots of those little burps at first but as it warms it mellows and becomes more gratifying. A pretty nice brew, seemingly one dimension in a way, but complex enough to keep interest and finding something new nearly every sip makes for a welcome experience and favorable enjoyment.

Pours a brown muddy body topped with a thick beige head. Rich and complex yeasty nose with hints of spices, vanilla, banana and caramel. Mouthfeel starts with a good carbonation. Taste is vineous and carries some notes of fruits and chocolate. Long and very enjoyable warming final. For years, this is been one of my favorites. Too bad I have now to go to Ontario, USA or Germany to get some samples... Shame on the SAQ!!!

[2002 Vintage] Murky brown pour with big bubbles and a medium foamy white head. Chocolate aroma and some fruit and alcohol. Tastes like a liquid tootsie-roll!. Toffee and banana flavors. Very nicely balanced. Palate is great, not too carbonated, nor too watery or sticky either.
