Big aroma of wheat malt: bananas and cloves, with a touch of dark fruit. Big, complex malt flavor, with lots of everything: bananas, figs, cloves, and a touch of chocolate and caramel even. Just enough sour in the finish to keep it from going over the top. Great full body. This is the weizen bock that sets the standards. Was even better at the brewery on tap. daboskabouter (1470), Fergus, Ontario, Canada

Great aroma, nice creamy head that lasts. wonderful slightly bitter beginning with a semi sweet chocolaty palate. The greatness of a dark beer and white beer all in one. Tried to go for the massive head in the pic, but apparently I wasn’t anal enough about cleaning my glass... oh well, it happens. Aroma of caramelized bananas, like bananas fried until a dark brown color. Add a little bubble-gum, nut liquer, and clove spice, and you have a pretty sweet aroma happening. The flavor has a rich caramel quality, with bubble-gum sweetness, bread, and a hint of alcohol. Banana and clove are their, but don’t manifest as assertively as in the aroma. full bodied with the same effervescent carbonation that you would find in a regular hef. Something about this just doesn’t quite work for me. It’s OK, but more subtle bubbles would work better for me. I like how smoothly the wheat character blends in with the rich caramel components. Good stuff. joeycapps (1466), Waterdown, Ontario, Canada
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 3, 2003 Dark brown w/ shades of yellow & red. Pours w/ a massive head that settles relatively quickly. Banana, clove & sweet malt & even some chocolate on the nose. Creamy, full, carbonated feel. Banana, apple(?), toffee, honey, butterscotch(?) & pepper flavour. Finish is long & quite dry. Alcohol leaves a warming tingle on the tongue. Dixen (1465), Flagstaff, Arizona, USA

Superb hangtime receding to a full ring and canopy lace. Aromas of malted bananas and mildly medicinal. Medium nectar w/ ample residual effers. The texture expands to pillowy soft and chewy effers. Mildly sweet w/ a predominance of malt character. Flavors of spicey banana bubble gum, slight medicine, angotura bitters, rootbeer, and a touch of sour dark fruit that persits from start to finish. The finsh is long w/ a mild sweetness and a tart bittering component.
