Flavor brings out more spiciness, including a distinct BBQ edge for me. As the body warms, more and more complex wheat flavor comes out, truly solidifying this brew as world class. I’ll be picking up a few more of these at my first opportunity. Excellent. nqualls (1428), Nashville, Tennessee, USA

Poured a hazy brown color (really did look like crap) with a huge and sustaining tan head. Aroma was of bananas and cloves with some wheat. Cloves dominated the aroma. Flavor was caramel and bananas with a decidedly sour flavor at the end. Body was full with high carbonation. I think I may have discovered my favorite beer. Love this beer. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jul 6, 2005 Brown. Light tan head. Commercial description is the most accurate I’ve read, although I’m not sure about the "compact" part. Easy drinking at 8%. I like the eizbock better, but this is very good, also. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 5, 2006 500 ml bottle. Two years past its best before end date. Coarse thin off-white head. Heavily carbonated. Clear brownish and ruby-red in color. Sweet malty and appley aromas. Notes of caramel and dark bread can also be detected. Slightly oxidized. Full-bodied. Not really particularly sweet for the style. Quite possible that some of the remaining sugars have been eaten by yeast to produce the high carbonation level. Wonderful texture; soft and slightly buttery, but also crisp from the carbonation touching the tongue. Caramel and apple flavours. Aftertaste is lightly bitter. Leaves a viscous feeling on the tongue. mrkimchee (1414), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 2, 2009 I typically suggest this stuff at Toronado to beer noobs who aren’t ready for the double IPAs or imperial stouts, but hey, I don’t mind drinking this myself. In fact, I love it. Pours a cloudy dark brown with a big white head. Aroma is banana and other fruits, caramel, and yeast. Flavor is sweet caramel malt, bananas foster, clove, raisin, and mild alcohol. Smooth yet lively on the palate. BeerBiker (1392), Kathmandu, Nepal
