Commercial Description:
Dark ruby, glistening mysteriously, streaked with fine, top-fermented yeast, this beer has a compact, stable and long-lasting head. It has an intensive, typically top-fermented clove-like aroma. The palate experiences a gentle touch, on the tongue it is very full-bodied, compact and yet fresh with a hint of caramel. It finishes with a light and delicate taste of bitters leaving behind a strong, smoothly rounded, sour impression.

Dark ruby red colour with lively head. Aroma is powerfull with a clear malty sweetness, some caramel and figs. Flavor has a nice sweetness with again caramel and figs, just hints of the alcohol in the finish.

[draught] This extremely nice coloured beer with a great head looks superb in the cool glasses. Unfortunately that’s all. Unpleasant alcoholic wheat aroma. Strong and bad taste of farmyard manure.

Bottle: Dark amber, small but stable off-white head; vinous nose (Port), aromas of dried fruit (raisins) and bananas; slightly sweetish and moderate fruity flavour, medium to full bodied; sweet malty, distinctive fruity and a bit yeasty finish, some faint illusions of cloves. Yeah, a devilishly deceptive and moreish Weizen Bock !

(bottle) Pale dark ruby to brown colour, medium off-white head. Intense banana aroma rounded up with little yeast. Very creamy palate. Absolutely well balanced, a cornucopia of flavours. The alcohol becomes present slowly after a few sips. A heartwarming Weizen Bock, one of the best I had so far.

Bottle. Tasted again, more than 18 months since the last time. I just thought that I should add that my first thought when smelling it this time, was a fine Belgian triple. There’s some of that thoughts when I taste it as well, and it leaves me warm inside, and very content. A really lovely weizenbock. By the way, I think I remember the Weizen Bock from Haandbryggeriet (N) to be a bit fizzy, but I’m not sure anymore, as Aventinus has a quite heavy carbonation as well. Anyhow, I’m really fond of Aventinus, and my rating stands unaltered. (070912)

Bottled. Slightly hazy, amber beer with a thick, beige head. Heavy aroma with sweetness, toffee, cloves, dried fruits, a little banana and a hint of alcohol. It is quite fizzy in the mouth, but not as sticky as expected, and flavors of caramell, cloves, hops, alcohol, banana and dried fruits swirls around your mouth along with some yeasty notes, finishing off in a sweet, yet bitter, warming aftertaste that leaves you very satisfied. Full-bodied classic beer, and it was a good choice for this cold, snowy evening. It left me very pleased. (060216)

Contemplate, fellow apostles, the god-sent treacley-dipped bananas that overtake your palate…Venere the sagacity of its finely balanced fieldberries and dark rhum…With love and perspicacity, you may even observe lemon bubblegum amidst a spicy smoke…You are holding, dear beer pilgrims, a portal to the heart of pansophy…

On tap: The colour is very dark brown/reddish. Pours a huge head. The aroma is distinct. Yeast and banana. The flavour is heavenly. A palate of flavours just hits your mouth while drinking it. As others I can highly recommend this beer.

Bottled, poured out into an Aventinus glass. Pours a dark healthy brown. Smell is of fruit and wheat. Taste is citrussy with some lemony bite. An excellent beer.

2001 bottle: Smells lightly sour with some underlying nuttiness. Tastes of slight alcohol, but the flavors of the fruit and nuts have blended beautifully.
