Commercial Description:
Dark ruby, glistening mysteriously, streaked with fine, top-fermented yeast, this beer has a compact, stable and long-lasting head. It has an intensive, typically top-fermented clove-like aroma. The palate experiences a gentle touch, on the tongue it is very full-bodied, compact and yet fresh with a hint of caramel. It finishes with a light and delicate taste of bitters leaving behind a strong, smoothly rounded, sour impression.

Bottle. Hazy, ruby red color with a dissapointing tan head. Be sure and swirl the bottom of the bottle to attempt to get such a head as is in the picture. Aroma of banana, clove, leather, caramel and a bit of mold. VERY complex flavors matching the aroma and adding a yeasty componant with a bit of chalk. Spritzey rich mouth feel with a satisfying bitterness and alcohol bite. The benchmark for the style, Aventinus remains the champion.

Pours a dark golden brown with an off-white head. A spicey caramel, dark fruit, malty aroma. Very good flavor of spices (cloves and nutmeg), dark fruit, sweet malt, wheat, banana, etc. Complex ale, this stuff is good.

Dark red in color, medium head that is mostly diminishing except for a small ring left 'round the edge. Aroma is of smoke, ripe fruit, and some cinnamon. Flavor is of over-ripened banana, slight alcohol, and finishes moderately sweet.

My re-rate: Pleasant, malty aroma - with just a decent amount of wheatiness. Not bitter at all. Big, lush head on first pour leads to soapy bubbles around the sides of the glass. Mostly I aste the caramel,. clove/raisin in the flavor, next to the full array of maltiness. A bit of apples seems to stick with me from this beer as well. Somewhat chewy finish.

Dark redish brown, huge head. Yeast aroma. Banana and yeast flavor. Over carbonated and acidic. Repulsive
