Commercial Description:
Dark ruby, glistening mysteriously, streaked with fine, top-fermented yeast, this beer has a compact, stable and long-lasting head. It has an intensive, typically top-fermented clove-like aroma. The palate experiences a gentle touch, on the tongue it is very full-bodied, compact and yet fresh with a hint of caramel. It finishes with a light and delicate taste of bitters leaving behind a strong, smoothly rounded, sour impression.

Funny, I thought I had rated this before. I drink it often enough. This is lovely and dark with a big white head. Aromas are sweet chocolate malts and banana. Flavours are as rich - being banana, chocolate, lots of malts and bready yeast. A great beer.

Bottled. A deep chestnut coloured beer with a good off white head. Complex and scrummy full bodied weizenbock with good banana and toffee notes with wood and alcohol. Hints of chocolate and leather. Best in class.Score 4.1

Pours deep copper/burgundy with a big white head. Aroma of malt, caramel, fruit, nuts. Tastes malty, with hits of fruit, cognac, nuts, cloves, and a firm, dense finish. Solid mouthfeel. This is a top notch beer.

Hazy brown in colour with a wonderful moka head. Sweet malty aroma with bananas and spiced bread. Sweet malt in mouth with notes of coriander, molasses, pears and fruity esters. Rich and lightly oily mouthfeel.

Cloudy amber with a big white head. Banana and bubblegum dominates the flavour. Sweet with a slightly dry finish, and a hint of roast flavour.

Head is initially huge, frothy, off-white, fully lasting. Body is hazy medium orange-brown, bottle conditioned. Aroma is moderately malty (caramel, toasted bread, cookie), moderately yeasty (cobwebs), with notes of banana, clove, brown sugar, light note of alcohol. Flavor is heavily sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is moderately sweet, moderately bitter, moderately acidic. Medium to full body, velvety texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. Good stuff, though I expect this could be made better. I don’t know that I’ve had a better doppelbock-weisse to date, but neither the aroma nor flavor balance is mind-blowing. Not to disrespect this one, all I’m saying is there is some room for improvement. I want to see Andechs make this style. I love the glassware for this, though.

Sweet, fruity, spicy nose (could be stronger). Barely translucent deep red/brown body with a great creamy head. Flavor --huge -- doublebock/holiday spice beer flavors (cinnamon, apple, cloves) duke it out with weissbeer characteristics that seem to win out in the end. An amazing beer, but not for every day; too much!
