Color is a nice ruby brown and it is medium-bodied. Detected raisin/prunes, bubblegum, roasted malt, and bittersweet chocolate in the aroma, very nice! Sweet, fruity, and spicy tastes rush to the forefront followed by a warming honey sweetness, not aggressive, but you know the alcohol is there. Very complex beer. Great mouthfeel and nice lingering sweet and sour taste. Yummy. Among the very best beers I've ever had! RERATE: Poured into the same Aventinus glass shown to the left, the head now remains and the aroma is even more pronounced. Again confirming my opinion that this is among the world's greatest beers! Appearance-wise, this is one of the most beautiful beers around, especially when served in the right glass: Deep, opaque reddish-brown; enormous, stable head that sticks around until the very end; massive carbonation visible all the way up the tall glass. It's almost - almost - a shame to drink a beer this fine-looking...
Taste is highly complex, easily combining the freshness of a wheat beer w/ the depth and fullness of taste of a doppelbock. Exemplary. Luxurious mouthfeel and very good drinkability w/ the 8% abv. being well hidden.
A unique and wonderful brew that's become one of my all-time favorites. grat (433), ST. Louis, Missouri, USA

This brew was my longstanding favorite for months...nothing could top it. To drink one was an occasion in and of itself. Pours a seductively chocolate color. Look spritzy like any good wheat beer. Smells like...ohh my goodness...ohhh...smells like my nose is going to have kids in nine months..conception. Smells like a deep dark pit of goodness. The malts in this beer are so infinitely enjoyable I can’t contain myself. Notes of raisin, plum, chocolate and a sourness to be rivasled only by my socks. Tastes lovely. Evaporates on your tongue like champagne. Has a very interesting take on the soy saltiness of most dopplebocks. Tastes mostly on the back of my tounge (like Chimay Bleu, or other fine quadruppel’s) Leaves a nice refreshingly tingly carbonation in your hole.
Excellent beer.

But I have to disagree with some people, who say that the head was fizzy or small. Mine looked really astonishing and took ages to diminish to a drinking-friendly size (yeah, I was a little bit hasty while pouring out the beer). The foam is actually really thick and looks like it can be cut with a knife. ghawener (994), San Salvador, El Salvador

Aroma of ripe red fruits, strong wheat presence. Taste is complex, a mixture between a great wheat beer and a doppelbock without losing one or the other, alcohol is nicely hidden.
