2006 bottle. - Pours hazy dark amber with a big fluffy tan head. Aroma of fruity cloves, sweet spice, crazy esters that I’ve never gotten from this beer: bubble gum, cotton candy, really sweet, no noticable alcohol. Mouthfeel is medium to heavy bodied and lush, foamy carbonation makes this beer quite refreshing. It’s hard to call anything perfect, but this is as close to perfect as I’ve tasted. 2004 bottle. - Pours dark and murky with a thin off-white head. Aroma is yeast and phenolic with notes of cloves, banana, toffee and a slight hint of bubble gum. Taste starts with sweet fruits and bready malt dripped in caramelized toffee, which slowly dissolves into a bouquet of flowery esters. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with lush foamy carbonation. Alcohol content is subdued but evident in the aftertaste and after completing the bottle. This brewery certainly knows how to make a good wheat beer. If I had one desert island beer, this would be it.

2001 vintage. - Bought this bottle in honor of dortmunder. First time I have seen vintage Aventinus on sale in Atlanta. Rest in peace friend. This beer is presented in a white bag with purple lettering. Pouring the brew into my weizen glass caused a violent wispy head to form, and quickly recede. Incredible phenolic aroma of apples, nutmeg, oak, vanilla, and cloves. Taste is sweet chewy wheat, spicy yeast, and earthy aromatic breads. This beer felt heavier than normal because most of the carbonation was initially lost during the pour. Aged Aventinus is certainly more mellow, and in my opinion better than fresh samples. Four years might be taking it too long though.

The balance of sweetness and dopplebock flavoring was uncanny. Delightful on the palate, grapes and smooth malt taste throughout. Transition also provides an excellent treat, with just the right amount of flavor lingering. I found myself drinking this one way faster then I would have liked to, but I could not resist. This was that damn good! An
amazing choice. bourne (161), Suwon, South Korea

It’s a lightly bitter doppelbock and it’s the best I’ve had so far. It’s an almost perfect creation. I can’t wait to taste the Aventinus Eisbock... Quevillon (1529), Sainte-Thérèse, Quebec, Canada

Arome de malte de caramel et d’épice bien mélangé. Bon petit goût d’épice sucré, aucun arrière goût d’alcool. slipx (3), denham springs, Louisiana, USA does not count | 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Mar 3, 2008 This beer turned me into a borderline alcoholic last week. I blew like 100 dollars on this beer, I actually bought out the local store that sells it, and after that I bugged the stock guy to tell me when they’re getting another shipment in.
8.2 alcohol/volume, but you can barely taste the alcohol.
Drink two of these and you’ll be feeling right.
aroma reminds me of cafe’au lait mixed up with grapes, wood, and a slight hint of butterscotch.
tastes almost like candy, and must contain alot of sugar...I say this because I spilled a few drops and within seconds, it was ultra sticky on my skin. How to explain the taste? Butterscotch, grapes and other fruits I can’t identify, along with woody/earthy notes. You can barely taste the alcohol, but believe me, after half a bottle you’ll definately know it’s there.
Three bottles of this stuff and you’re done for, lol JFowler (30), Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA

To much carbonation.Sweet malty flavor makes it easy on the taste buds. Good overall character. I personally like the clove finish.
