Aroma is just great with a large amount of banana, light clove, wheat, and when the beer warms the aroma switches to caramel and light chocolate, slight toasty notes, with an undertone of banana. The flavor itself is wonderful, with a nice dose of banana, spice, light caramel, and a toasty taste too. Fairly thick mouthfeel, what a great beer. jobyone (234), Charlotte, USA

I will start by saying I love Aventinus so trying the 2002 cave aged example was a treat. It pours dark brown with some sediment and a large head. Aroma has the sweetness and wheat of normal Aventinus. The flavor seems more complex. There is the sweetness but also more malt and bannanas. wonderful mouthfeel and great aftertaste. This does add a point or two over the normal unaged. Ljunkan (400), Karlstad, Sweden

It’s so refreshing despite the quite high alcohol percent. A lot of spices, like clove, in the taste together with banana. I think I’m going to have many of these in the summer... nearly perfection. A litte bit of an alcoholic burn in the finish, especially as the beer warms up, but overall a very enjoyable weizen bock. wmtribesman (21), Virginia, USA

Without a doubt the best beer I’ve ever had. Took forever to pour because of the huge head that developed. Strong, dark, and fruity. Delicious! I could drink this everyday if I could afford it. darkseduction (206), Zweibrücken, Germany

Creamy, stable head, carbonation is very small for a weizen but matches to the beer. Smells like dry fruits, raisins. Taste is full-bodied, never had a Weizenbock with this complexity and harmony. Great stuff! mesperon (152), Jersey City, New Jersey, USA

Head was as dense as shaving cream. Aroma is very full of alcohol, slightly sweet. The feel is very smooth, the alcohol is well hidden, not at all what I expected when it was so prevalent in the aroma, very well hiden. Starts off very sweet on the tip of the tongue, and progresses into a nice full wheaty flavor, bitterness comes out in the end. The progression of flavor is wonderful, realy a joy to let it sit on your tongue and experience all that it has to offer. A new one of my favorites. The pour is a gorgeous deep ruby/amber color. The head is a wonderfully thick and frothy off white. The flavors are a complex mix of yeasty bred and caramels with slight citrus hop notes underneath, and a hint of plum? The aftertaste is something that not many people will forget. Nice and smooth with just about the right amount of carbonation. It does leave a bit of a stickyness in your mouth as part of the after effects. illteez (11), Annandale, New Jersey, USA
