Commercial Description:
Dark ruby, glistening mysteriously, streaked with fine, top-fermented yeast, this beer has a compact, stable and long-lasting head. It has an intensive, typically top-fermented clove-like aroma. The palate experiences a gentle touch, on the tongue it is very full-bodied, compact and yet fresh with a hint of caramel. It finishes with a light and delicate taste of bitters leaving behind a strong, smoothly rounded, sour impression.

What an interesting combination. Classic wheat smells, rather citrusy but more spice, yet the body was a fantastic hazy dark brown, Huge fizzy head that lasted. First sip is crisp, caramel and then the citrus flavours you expect from a wheat. Great clean finish, slight hops in the end. A refreshing and very balanced beer. And I can’t believe it is 8%. A great experience.

On tap @ Blågårds Apotek. Pours dark reddish brown with large solid head. Sweet aroma. Very good flavour with a full and smooth body. Note 30/11/2009: Had it from bottle, very inferior with way too much carbonation compared to the tap version.

This one of those beers that if you try it during your craft beer infancy, it’ll just absolutely stun you with it’s deliciousness. Pours just like the picture basically, khaki colored head eventually settles into a creamy long lasting foam. Aroma is very spicy and jumps into your nose with cloves, mild banana, smoke, hay, caramel, brown sugar, holiday bread, and maybe even a bit of gouda cheese. Taste of cloves and spices at first followed by a nice caramel sweetness, raisins, a bit of smoke on the roof of the mouth, some grass. Finishes with a bit of banana and fruit flavor, followed by a sort of nutty tasting dry sensation, slightly tangy. Highly carbonated, but very creamy feeling, drinks effortlessly. This is the absolute benchmark of what a weizenbock should be and to boot, it’s top-rated and widely available. What more can you want?

Aroma is excellent. Spicy, dank and bold smelling. Poured murky brown with a rich foamy head. Tastes of cloves, malts, brown sugary and alcohol.

What a tasty beer. It’s smooth yet flavorful and has a great finish. I drank it out of a stein so I can’t say much on the appearance. I’ve had it a few times but never rated it. A world class beer.

Bottle @ Publick House, Brookline, MA (November 2006). WOW, when I tasted this I described it as Sam Adams Winter Lager on steroids. The beer pours a deep brown with an enticing aroma of malt and cinnamon, with some slight fruity notes as well. Taste is largely malt and cinnamon up front, with a slight fruit and hop aftertaste. Wonderful, outstanding beer.

Bottle. 5-3-07 This is the highest rated beer available in Arkansas, so I was hesitant to try it. Didn’t want to get my hopes up. My buddy and I pulled ours out of the fridge and held them for a moment to let them warm. They poured a deep red-brown with a nice puffy head. As this dissipates, and the flavors waft from the glass, my nose perks up. Toffee, caramel, figs and huge esters pop out immediately. The flavor is rich and luxurious. It has the softness and drinkability of a traditional german hefeweizen, the rich malt character of a delicious dopplebock, and the intense estery aroma of a belgain tripel or summer siason. We stood inside his garage, sheltered from the spring rain that dotted softly outside and raised our glasses to a friend as quiet darkness settled in around us.

Hoo boy! Doesn’t get much better. Aside from aroma the only reason I didn’t give it perfect scores is I want to leave myself somewhere to go if I find one I enjoy more! Big fan of the Schneider Original but this just beats it. Picked this up while on holiday interstate - can’t find it locally anymore bugger......
