Don’t let the ’low’ ABV fool you; this one packs a bit of a punch. Should be mandatory for all serious beer drinkers. A biting molasses sweetness is evident from the get go, followed by a mellow alcohol/chocolate mixture that lingers long after the sip is over. Rounds out nicely with a blunt clove finish. Mouthfeel is slick and coating. biz82 (1328), austin, Texas, USA

Be sure and swirl the bottom of the bottle to attempt to get such a head as is in the picture. Aroma of banana, clove, leather, caramel and a bit of mold. VERY complex flavors matching the aroma and adding a yeasty componant with a bit of chalk. Spritzey rich mouth feel with a satisfying bitterness and alcohol bite. The benchmark for the style, Aventinus remains the champion. detroiter (958), Euphoria, Minnesota, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Jan 27, 2007 Cloudy light brownish color, topped by a huge, cream colored head of foam. You can hear this beer, the pour is so fizzy and effervescent. Head dies down after a bit to just a thin cap. No lacing to speak of. Bready yeast in the aroma while the foam is still churning, then a plumy sweet wheat after that.
Very malty flavor - wheat, chocolate, toffee, and some kind of fruity raisin bread. Delicious. Finishes a bit less sweet and mildly spicy. Very smooth, nearly full bodied. An herbal alcohol in the aftertaste. Phil (100), Kent, England

Nose of Brett, malty wholemeal bread, Dried fruits, museli, faint sweet caramel notes. Body, rich full flavours yet far from cloying nice balance. Cleansing wheaten notes. Sweet front pallet malts complementing dry wheat finish in the late pallet. Nice warmth. Moderate fizz. Rocky yet diminishing head. Like this. Oh, slightly estery come farmyardy on the burp. noelcb (271), Toledo, Ohio, USA

Big frothy head, slowly fades to nice full lacing. Aromas of clove, cilantro, bread, peat and smoky malt. Flavor is wonderfully rich with a first hit of malt, some cloves, dark fruit, molasses, ginger, citrus and sourdough bread. Hints of caramel and toffee. Finishes with a bit of herbalness and some hoppy bitterness. Tangy and slightly sweet, very well-balanced, with mild astringency. Nice creamy texture, full mouthfeel. Excellent example. swirl (267), collingswood, New Jersey, USA

Loads of carbonation bubbles continuously float up from the bottle of the glass. Large wheat smell with some alcohol and chocolate malt. Tastes are along the same lines being very sweet initially with some yeasty flavors initially and the alcohol flavor very strong in the finish. This is a great beer that I can’t get enough of. Delightful.

This is her fave, and I must say, it is one of my new favourites as well now! Very nice dark brown pour (from the bottle), good head. Very, very satisfying, filling flavour.
