Pours a deep amber orange with a nice head of off white bubbles. Aromas of malt, clove, and soft banana. Clean malty slight-citrus flavor hits the tongue with a perfect amount of carbonation before giving way to caramel, banana, apricot, and hard candy. Then a clove like hop finish before going away leaving the palate awake and wanting more. World Class!

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Dec 14, 2009 Pours dirty brown with a massive beige head. Wheat and grass dominate with some cloves, coriander and ginger, soy sauce and orchard fruits.Taste is pretty sweet and unfortunately (from my point of view) quite bananaesque. The malt makes it substantial enough to support the alcohol. Not really a bitter finish, but less cloying than wheat beers often are. Luscious mouthfeel. Excellent, but marked down a lot because I don’t like bananas. jimmiec (61), Louisiana, USA

My bottle didn’t have the nice fluffy/creamy head as others mentioned; I will have to get another one and re-rate. weihenweizen (34), West Virginia, USA

Interesting dark brown with dark ruby color around the edges. Nice head and lacing that lingers. Taste is heavy clove, banana nut bread, and carmalized sugar aftertaste. Interesting brew, but a little disappointed. ksurkin (397), Norfolk, Virginia, USA

A lot of hype surrounds this, but it’s really pretty disappointing, but not at bad beer. Great copper colour with a formidable head. You can taste notes of banana, vanilla, spices and hop. Medium-bodied with a little bit too much carbonation for my taste. judasbeer (255), Budapest, Hungary
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 3, 2009 Pours coppery orange color with diminishing off-white head with slight lacing. Moderate bready malt aroma with some citrus tartness and alcohol. The flavor starts with bready malty fullness with caramelized sugars, alcoholic figs and banana esters. It gets more citrusy or phenolic at the end of the sip. Not too lingering finish with dried fruits and sweetish cocoa powder and alcoholic figs. Medium, but quaffable body with active carbonation level. Much more easier than expected, but not bad. Barnaby (11), Brooklyn, New York, USA

The smell is a lovely caramel and butterscotch. The color is an unbeatable dark mahogany. Taste is impeccably subtle with hints of banana and clove of course but also a creeping saltiness that makes you want to chug the whole beer. I buy this beer every time I see it for $4 or less (the 500 ml bottle). I can’t imagine a better beer in this style and I’m not sure there is a beer out there that I’d rather drink. Yup, this is my one beer on a desert island beer.

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 30, 2009 Brown color with red reflexes, foamy and persistent head. Fresh aroma, primarily of fruit and attractive. Medium body. In mouth it likes for fruit’s taste, the wheat’s acidity, the presence of the toasted malt and the thickness of the alcoholic component.
