03 December 2005. Schneider Wiesen Edel-Weisse. Bottle. The first thing about this beer that *really* stands out is the lack of head for a weisse. I’ve poured it into my tall wheat glass; this glass has plenty of head space for wheat beers, and I almost always need it since they’re usually so expansive. But this one had large, clear-ish bubbles that quickly and loudly (ok, relatively loudly) popped, leaving nothing but a thin layer of white on the surface. The flavors are pretty classic, though: bubble-gum, a little clove, fruity yeast esters. This could be the kid-sister of the Aventinus – good, promising, but lighter all around (and not world-class). I wish I were tasting this side by side with the regular Schneider Weisse; it’d be interesting to see what the Edel- (and organic) adds, as it were…

Bottle. Pours a crystalline light honey color with white head. The aroma is strong yeast, some citrus zest, grain, and banana. The flavor, though, isn’t quite as assertive as the aroma. It’s very grainy with some yeast and citrus. Ok, but not great.

My bottle stated that it was a BIO beer(Organic) that’s always a plus. I was suprised how much color was lacking in this beer, but I don’t think there’s filtering. Taste was great, and smooth, very fruity, and a bit of sourness. Very nice, I’d drink anytime!

1 pint bottle poured in weizen glass. When I opened the bottle I was greeted with a wonderful aroma of yeast and lime. It pours nicely with a thin creamy head. My glass was opaque so I can’t really see the coloration. It had an excellent weizen taste with a bit of lime. It had a nice dry finish and a bit of tartness on the back edges of the tongue. This is a really good beer.

Pours an expected hefeweizen brown cloud with little yeast residue at the bottom. Medium carbonation offers a bountiful nose that accentuates the best in wheat aromas of banana, light nut aroma, and clove. Mouthfeel is a little light, as is the body. Flavor is incredibly smooth and lightly sweet with nothing new from the aroma. A very drinkable hefeweizen that is one of the best of the widely accesible German offerings.

A truly attractive beer, it is honey gold one monent and an orange color the next. First taste was quite bitter and that was a surprise but the hefe flavors quickly settled in. What a super beer! Quite dry for a hefe but lots of personality make for a delightful bottle of beer.

this brew has somthing to do with being the "origional" or "lost" recipe or somthing like that ( not really sure of the whole story ) regardless it is pretty tasty. the usuall banana, clove, citrus elements are present but a nice aroma of citrus blossoms and banana are really noticable. not as consistant as the "origional" but still nice and worth a pour.
