A slightly more interesting, citrusier, flowerier version of their original Heffeweizen. An improvement. Kudos.

Poured a slightly dark orangey body into its official weizen glass. Big banana aroma. A little bit of citrus in there as well. Flavor is the same, uninteresting. Not nearly as good as the other German Hefe I had today. Still, it was nice.

Cloudy orange with no head, and therefore no lacing. Some nice tiny bubbles cruising their way to the top of the glass redeem it for a passing mark on the appearance, though. Banana based aroma, of course, with some bugglegum and peppery spice. Delicious refreshing flavour the ensures the beer slides down with the greatest of ease. Slightly bitter and well balanced, it is very sessionable (is that a word?). Medium bodied with a warming alcohol glow, this a good one.Re-rate: Poured with a big head that hung around a little while then disappeared to nothing. Sort of milky aroma, and probably has the strongest clove notes of any beer I’ve had. Still one of my most favourite hefes. Go organic!!

Really delicious brew. Lots of lemon zest, spices and banana, with a slight bubblegum sweetness. I was pleasantly surprised with this one.

Light yellow with no head at all. Grassy aroma with a hint of honey. Light body. Flavor mirrors the aroma a lot...grassy notes, mostly, with a touch of honey sweetness and a bit of bitterness coming in at the end. Definitely more of a session beer for me.

Bottle. Sour wheat aroma with hint of banana. Golden yellow-orange color - cloudy with decent head. Nicely blended sweet banana-wheat flavor mixed with sourness - hint of cherries in the finish. Very nice - one of the best especially if you like less sweet Weizens. Superbly crafted Weizen.

(500 ml bottle: $2.89 at Holiday Wine Cellar in Escondido, CA) You know, I wasn’t all that fond of the highly-regarded Schneider Weisse Original, so I wasn’t expecting much out of this beer either, but this beer is outstanding. Malty, very bready, fairly sweet, and spicy, wow, a whole lot of clove in here and quite a bit of banana too. Damn, this is delicious. I’m totally digging the clove finish. Cloves play a huge role in the nose as well, with aromas of banana and a bready maltiness solidly in the mix as well. Medium-full bodied, not sticky per se, but getting there, but the spices and good carbonation really help to keep this beer lively on the palate. Golden in color, and somewhat cloudy, but because I swirled the bottle like crazy to break up the sludge, the beer’s final pour is fully cloudy. The off-white head pours on the small side, and unfortunately, doesn’t stick around for long. But that’s a minor issue to me. I bow to this fantastic beer.

I was pleasantly surprised by this beer. It has a malty flavor with strong yeast characteristics. Banana and bread overtones are definately present. A nice cloudy beer with a good head. If you like Hefe-wiesens, you will definately like this.
