Smells of light banana, somefruity citrus, and mild wheat characters. More fruity and darker in color than I was expecting. The flavor had a lot of sweet wheat characters, some banana and subtle clove as well. Nice full mouthfeel, with a fruity sweet finish. Very nice hefe, I like the Edel Weisse better, but this is very solid. Wanderer (33), Copenhagen, Denmark

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 8, 2008 This is a nice hefe. .5L bottle poured into a wheat beer glass. It poured brownish-amber right up to the line. There are distinct clove, banana, apple, and yeast notes. The taste is of the same with cloves and bananas omni-present. It is a bit heavy on the mouthfeel for a hefe. The finish combines the banana and some sour notes. It is good, but I agree with some other raters-not may favorite hefe-weizen. Aroma is full of cloves, light caramel, touch of bananna, bit of lemon. Flavor is fairly malty, yeasty, definite bananna, light caramel. Finish is balanced. Fairly highly carbonated. Very nice overall, though a bit dark it seems to me for the style. ketchepillar (480), Viña del Mar, Chile
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 2, 2008 Aroma is a little sour; yeast yields spice, clove, and some sweaty characteristics. The aroma kinda of reminds me of eating capers. Flavor: It’s kinda watered down, a characteristic which I’ve found to be all too common in Hefes. Flavor has a lot of clove sitting around in the background. A bit acidic leaving a nice dry finish that’s almost tart. crowderm (282), Recklinghausen, Germany
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 2, 2008 Pours a deep amber color with an awesome soapy white head. The aroma is full of apple, cloves, and general wheaty spice. The flavor I must admit is a little bit disappointing - the apple comes through nicely, fading into a very pleasant yet bitter green apple/sourdough bread finish. While this is all good, the flavor is pretty straightforward and one dimensional; not quite as lively as a great hefe should be. The mouthfeel is similarly lacking - while the beer is relatively full bodied and very drinkable, the carbonation is a bit lacking. This beer doesn’t have the lively combination of spice/carbonation that I really enjoy in a hefeweizen. This is a good beer (I especially like the unique apple flavor), but not my favorite example of the style. When your nose is pressed less than an inch from the head, once poured, it gives off aromas that are of wheat and bananas, and slightly of vinegar alcohol making me squint after a good sniff. Once tasted, a soft carbonation complements the flavors of the drink which are first slightly of apple, then of banana and a hint of honey, with a bitter finish. Not bad at all, not on the level of Schneider Weisse’s Aventinus... nate2g (1082), Brisbane, Australia
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 30, 2008 Pours a cloudy amber with a fine head. Aroma is of banana esters, wheat and malt. Medium body with sweet citrus and banana flavours through to the tart finish. A little too light for my liking.
