Beer 42 Summer 2006 trip in Europe. Drank on 7/6/06 at my hotel’s bar (Fleming’s Hotel Bar) in Frankfurt. Watching this beer poured from bottle to glass was remarkable, the pour was incredible making sure the entire half liter bottle made it from the bottle to the glass on the first go round. As I recall this was a pretty decent dunkel and it felt nice to have some Frankfurt brew in Frankfurt.

Bottle. Nice hazy brown colour with a big fluffy off-white head. The aroma is quite fruity and yeasty with some sweet caramel. The flavor is nice and fresh with plenty of wheat, quite sweet and fruity. Good fruity long aftertaste.

Pale amber with a good bubbly head. Lots of bubbles in the glass. Lots of banana in the aroma, some malts and a little caramel. Slightly watery with lots of caramel and an edge of pepper. Otherwise more sweet than hefe.

Muddy brown with a huge, bubbly head. Light malt and banana aroma. Very sweet banana flavour. Slight yeasty finish. Far too carbonated. Watery impression and much too sweet.

Dark copper in color with a medium white head. Very spicy nose with a large dose of wheat. Body has a lot of carbonation that lightens it up a lot bringing out a lot of the spice. Finish had a mild bitterness and some yeasty flavors.

Bottle. Unclear brown colour with a nice off-white head. Aroma and flavour of yeast and bread with fruity notes.

On tap in Kaiserslautern. Super tasty and a slight improvement on the normal hefeweizen. Not too dark, not too light. Just right.

Pours a hazy brown color. Head is big, off-white and frothy. It shows good retention and leaves a gorgeous lacing. Aroma is very nice, fruity/yeasty with strong notes of banana and vanilla. Other touches of lactose, chirimoya and some caramel come to my mind. Flavor is more subtle, a little muted. I feel the wheaty character which makes this very fresh. It’s a sweet beer with banana hints and a little watery finish. Pretty good and enjoyable. Creamy ultra-smooth texture, medium body. Lightly carbonated. Finish is smooth as hell too. Nice fruity long aftertaste. Lots of subtleties and a little more complex than the other German Weizens I’ve tasted so far. Nice.
