50Cl Bottle, bought in Berlin. Poured a heavy, rich dark brown with hints of orange. Very clouded as expected. Aromas of toffee malt, with clear yet faint banana notes. I found the taste very pleasant - Strong malty dunkles, almost chocolately. Nuttiness accompanies the wheatiness. Definite banana in the slightly bitter finish - like most hefe dunkles. Slighlty oily in the palate, but overall I found this beer thoroughly enjoyable, probably preferring it to the Hefe of the same brewery.

500 ml bottle, in Berlin. Hazy brown colour, moderate head. Moderate caramel and banana aroma. Bready and moderately malty flavour with faint hints of caramel, bananas and cloves. Relatively dry. Short aftertaste.

500ml bottle bought at Galeria Kaufhof in Stuttgart. Pours a hazy brown colour. Small head. Fruity aroma. Very sweet banana flavour. Slight yeasty finish. Far too carbonated. Watery impression and much too sweet (22.04.2006).

[bottle in Marburg] Cloudy, dark reddish brown with a rocky, beige mountain range floating upon what appeared to be a thin layer of yeast. Dry banana and clove aroma with a surprising blast of hops. Spicy cloves fill the flavour and is followed by malty banana. Not really sweet but somewhat, with estery, bubblegummy alcohol punch and dry finish. Prickly bitterness on tongue prickles with the carbonation. A little watery. Highly carbonated with a medium to light body and a sweetish finish.

I liked this one, flavor was nice, quite fruity, nice banana to it, but it is a little sweet, overall, good.

(Bottle 0,5l) Muddy Brown, clowdy colour with large head. The Dunkles is much Better than the Helles. But it is still one of the worst Waizen-beers in Germany

tap (fresh barrel), fuzzy dark brown color, dark amberish hard head, hoppy scent, nice dark weize with sweetish aftertaste, high carbonation which makes takes control first but makes a very refreshing seasonal drink

Tap. Dark brown, muddy pour. Crisp carbonated bite. Malty smell, similar taste, yet this one lacks the typical strong wheat beer smells and flavors. Better at the bottom than at the top. I much prefer the Schöfferhofer "normales" Hefeweizen despite the slight additional malt profile. Update: Gosh, what a terrible DW! Murky, muddy, depressing..."earthy" is a good adjective as long as it doesn’t stand for "dirty," as it does here. Very spicy and wheaty, caramel and dark malt, crisp, very sharp, medium body, dryish finish.
