Very clouded as expected. Aromas of toffee malt, with clear yet faint banana notes. I found the taste very pleasant - Strong malty dunkles, almost chocolately. Nuttiness accompanies the wheatiness. Definite banana in the slightly bitter finish - like most hefe dunkles. Slighlty oily in the palate, but overall I found this beer thoroughly enjoyable, probably preferring it to the Hefe of the same brewery. Sigmund (2293), Hafrsfjord, Norway

Cloudy, dark reddish brown with a rocky, beige mountain range floating upon what appeared to be a thin layer of yeast. Dry banana and clove aroma with a surprising blast of hops. Spicy cloves fill the flavour and is followed by malty banana. Not really sweet but somewhat, with estery, bubblegummy alcohol punch and dry finish. Prickly bitterness on tongue prickles with the carbonation. A little watery. Highly carbonated with a medium to light body and a sweetish finish. Saarlander (1579), Rancho Cucamonga, California, USA

Malty smell, similar taste, yet this one lacks the typical strong wheat beer smells and flavors. Better at the bottom than at the top. I much prefer the Schöfferhofer "normales" Hefeweizen despite the slight additional malt profile. Update: Gosh, what a terrible DW! Murky, muddy, depressing..."earthy" is a good adjective as long as it doesn’t stand for "dirty," as it does here. Very spicy and wheaty, caramel and dark malt, crisp, very sharp, medium body, dryish finish.
