Commercial Description:
Schöfferhofer German Wheat Beer Hefeweizen is brewed in Bavarian tradition using wheat malt. The live yeast gives bottle "conditioning" guaranteeing a refreshing fruity flavor. The yeast sediment also leads to the "cloudy" nature of the beer. Care needs to be taken when pouring. Tilt glass and poor slowly. Before pouring last quarter, roll bottle gently back and forward until sediment is dissolved.

0.5l bottle courtesy of and shared with heavy, who brought it from Austria
Poured a lovely murky apricot-orange body, thick small white head. Light spicy/yeasty nose, bubblegum and cloves. Nice enough. The taste is mainly chewed up bubblegum and cloves, noticable hoppiness, stronger than average for the style. A touch of peach. A weizen that’s somewhat refreshing and interesting, with no major flaws, but not the greatest one around.

Rated: 20 November 2006 500 ml brown bottle, aroma is very delicate, nice frothy white head and hazy wheat colour of the body. Wheat flavour with fruits (basically banana) in the background, bubblegum notes. Bitter and not that nice finish. Quite strongly sparkling, a little bit watery and lacks full taste. As much as I fancy wheat beer I consider this one not that good as many other german heffeweisens on the market (even on the Polish market). I expected the wheat ingredient to be more upfront not at the background or somewhere beneath, don’t know exactly where.

50 cL bottle. Pours hazy yellow/orange with a dense white head. Quite fruity aroma of banana and some bubblegum with an unmistaken wheat note beneath. Flavour is slight esteric swept in the wheat notes. Has a mild bitterness lingering into a rather fruity finish.

Ein wirklich gelungenes Weizen, das muss ich sagen. Sehr schön fruchtig, nicht zu intensiv im Nachgeschmack, diese Flasche war ein Genuss.

Pours a lovely cloudy golden colour with a soft cloudy white head. Nose is there with a slight hint of cloves and bananas, nothing too apparent thought. Not a bad flavour slight metallic edge to it but that recedes after it warms slightly....overall not a bad beer but is nowhere near the class of Schneider and Paulaner. Just what the doctor ordered on a rare sunny, warm and not too windy day in Wellington!

Bottle. Amber coloured with a big, off-white head. Aroma of cloves, yeast and bananas. The flavours were also typical of the style: Bananas, spice and bubble-gum. A bit of a subdued example of the style.
