Commercial Description:
Schöfferhofer German Wheat Beer Hefeweizen is brewed in Bavarian tradition using wheat malt. The live yeast gives bottle "conditioning" guaranteeing a refreshing fruity flavor. The yeast sediment also leads to the "cloudy" nature of the beer. Care needs to be taken when pouring. Tilt glass and poor slowly. Before pouring last quarter, roll bottle gently back and forward until sediment is dissolved.

500Ml Bottle - Poured into tradition Schofferhofer glass, nice big fluffy head, light cloudy amber appearance. Tropical fruit and fresh cut grass on the nose. Nice smooth foamy mouthfeel. Excellent weizen, especially for the price.

Bottle, Blackfriars, Glagow, RBESG 07. Hazy gold, huge white head. Nose is metallic potassium with plenty of banana. Grassy wheat. Mouth is banana, some wheatiness. Coating, slightly medicinal. Tannins and coating aftertaste. Alright, slightly gassy.

500ml bottle. Light plae yellow, reasonable head. Nose had a lipstick / cosmetic type of sweetness to it - sweet with bananas too. A slight thin bodywise some nice spices and enough complexity in the flavours to hold interest.

On tap at the Marriott Hotel, Leipzig. A decent but unspectacular Hefeweizen. Good citrus and vanilla aroma and a nice cloudy yellow look with a great big white head. The taste is rather over sweet though and the palate is a bit thin, which lets it down somewhat.

Can bought at a gas station in Kasierslautern, Germany. Cloudy pale yellow with a large creamy white head. Fruity and a bit nutty aroma with some yeasty notes. Light to medium body with soft carbonation. Good balance. An in-the- middle hefeweizen. Rating 6/3/6/3/12. Bottled at Zum Letzten Instanz, Berlin. Rating 7/3/7/3/14.

Bene.

This is about one of the most interesting in it’s genre. It deviates slightly from the formula by offering more citrus fruits in it’s flavour, making it even more perfect as a summer drink, that one doesn’t seem to get tired of. Average looks and foam.

A good wheat beer this. Nice and fruity, but with enough hops to make it interesting. Not a top-drawer specimen like Paulaner or Franziskaner, but much better than bland offerings like Erdinger. Jawohl for this little Lammchen, I say!
