Commercial Description:
Schöfferhofer German Wheat Beer Hefeweizen is brewed in Bavarian tradition using wheat malt. The live yeast gives bottle "conditioning" guaranteeing a refreshing fruity flavor. The yeast sediment also leads to the "cloudy" nature of the beer. Care needs to be taken when pouring. Tilt glass and poor slowly. Before pouring last quarter, roll bottle gently back and forward until sediment is dissolved.

yellow golden with white lasting head. Aroma and taste of citrus, wheat & banana. Medium to live carbonation. A bit watery. Pleasant fresh banana finish. Ok experience!

On tap in Kaiserslautern. Very solid stuff, with that just right mix of banana-ness and wheatiness. Not as good as the kristal or the dunkel though.

Bottle. Dark yellow with creamy white head. Mild aroma of wheat and banana. Quite powerful taste but rather sweet for a hefe, but it gains bitterness at the end.

Pours with a thick cream head. The beer is the color of marmalade. First aroma is vanilla but not the fake vanilla, more like Mexican vanillla extract. As it warms the more typical aromas come out to play; cloves, grapefruit, banana, and hint of green apple. I don’t usually like Hefeweizens but the flavors are somewhat subdued and well balanced. A little ginger, cloves, pineapple, and banana pudding. Cheers!

500ml Bottle: Pours a bit darker than most weiss I’m used to, a burnt orange almost, with a thick foam head and excessive carbonation. Aroma heavy in citrus and yeast, leaving me room for concern. Flavour was as expected; a harsh blend of yeast and citrus, heavy on the lemon and orange, but just too many wobbly bubbles. I’m more partial to a smooth weiss, and this one just seems to want to hurt me like a bad girlfriend. You could do worse, but there are much better hefeweizen’s to choose from.

Bottle. Muddy, orange body. Off-white head which lasts fully. Aroma of flowers, banana, orange, vanilla and liquor. Lightly bodied and soft carbonation.

Hazy, big lasting head. Pleasant smell, great mouthfeel. Complex taste with banana notes, strong yeast flavour. Great hefe!

Bottle, Lubeck. Hazy, beautiful looking hefe. Good aroma, nice palate and flavours, perhaps a bit thin. Nice carbonation. No flaws, but a bit boring.
