Commercial Description:
Schöfferhofer German Wheat Beer Hefeweizen is brewed in Bavarian tradition using wheat malt. The live yeast gives bottle "conditioning" guaranteeing a refreshing fruity flavor. The yeast sediment also leads to the "cloudy" nature of the beer. Care needs to be taken when pouring. Tilt glass and poor slowly. Before pouring last quarter, roll bottle gently back and forward until sediment is dissolved.

500ml bottle. Cloudy dark orange-yellow with a thin soft pillow of foam on top. Aroma of banana and orange zest. Flavour is more baking-soda than fruit or wheat which does not make for a refreshing Hefe. Drinkable but does not live up to the promise of the style or aroma.

Golden cloudy body with a medium but laaasting creamy head. Fruity aroma and taste of hobs and spices. Medium body. Not the best wheet beer around.

Nice golden/orange cloudy body with a thick off-white foamy head that fades relatively quickly. Decent malty/hoppy aroma with citrusy notes. Taste lacks complexity and is dominated by some unusual hoppiness. It ends with a fairly long bitter finish. That one contributes to proove that non-Bavarians still have a lot to learn about brewing Hefeweizen.

Bottle. Orange-amber in colour with a creamy white head, tiny bubbles, nice lace. The aroma was yeasty, some oranges, bananas, lemons, zesty. The flavour was of light citrus (orange zest), bananas, yeast, peppery. Creamy mouthfeel, medium body, medium/high carbonation. Finishes with a lingering yeasty bitterness. Nice and quite refreshing.

Aroma has some medicine qualities to it initially but is mostly of light maltiness and light hoppiness. Has a nice looking average size off-white head which is rocky/creamy and mostly lasting. Colour is medium yellow/amber. Flavour is initially moderately bitter and ends with light to moderate sweetness and light bitterness. Light to medium body with lively carbonation and a slightly watery texture.

Cloudy orange clour with a light fizzy white head. Sweet malt and faint bubblegum notes in a yeasty nose. The body is spritzy and vegetal with a mouthfull of cardboard and light bitterness at the end. Definitely leaves something to be desired in a hefeweizen.

Bottled. Light, peach-yellow, small white head, a bit hazy.Big bubbles float in the body as well as sediment. Lots of banana in the nose and taste, and not much else. This is tastier than some equivalent beers, but not exceptional.

bottle. LCBO. cloudy golden body with a marvellous white fluffy head and sticky lacing. aroma is of the typical hefeweizen class - notes of banana, bubblegum, and moderate peppery spicing. light creamy body is thin/watery at times. sweet fruit flavours with banana in the finish. spicy all over. thirst quenching!
