Commercial Description:
Schöfferhofer German Wheat Beer Hefeweizen is brewed in Bavarian tradition using wheat malt. The live yeast gives bottle "conditioning" guaranteeing a refreshing fruity flavor. The yeast sediment also leads to the "cloudy" nature of the beer. Care needs to be taken when pouring. Tilt glass and poor slowly. Before pouring last quarter, roll bottle gently back and forward until sediment is dissolved.

(500ml bottle, best by 11-18-05) Big white head atop a cloudy apple juice body. Aroma is moderately sweet, banana, some clove. Taste is medium sweet, wheat, lemon, some metallic/astringent, light banana. Watery light body.

Pours a hazy orange color with thin white head. Interesting aroma and flavor of banana and lemon. Medium body, creamy texture, lively carbonation.

Bottle best before 18.11.05 Thanks to whoever left these for the taking at the Summer Gathering! I like a good wheat beer and I’ve never seen this one before. Classic Hefeweizen pour. A bit of wheat protein haze in a deep yellow colored beer. Huge, long-lasting, sticky white head. Good fresh yeast and fruity banana in the nose. Smooth and filling with a good fruity flavor. Very nice! Fresh Maybe???

The packaging for this ale pretty much sums up it’s character: bland and commercial. Not that it’s bad, just that there are many tastier hefeweizens out there. Clouded orange in color, has a modest cap for a hefeweizen but it does lace the glass well. Sparkling natural carbonation. Nose is sweet malts over spices and some fruit tones. Mouth feel is peppery with carbonation but the malts punch through...some fruity tastes, not much hopping...a slight taste of the standard Hefeweizen esters come in near the finish...light banana and cloves...very slight. Not a bad beer but not good either.

Citrusy, banana esters protrude from yeasty dryness...Frothy but never intrusive carbonation propels the yeast of the severely unfiltered body...A creamy, nutritious feel is created, with biscuity insertions...I think this batch received at Ontario’s LCBO is pretty well-done...

Bottle. Pours a hazy dark yellow with a huge rocky white head. Aroma of wheat, banana, clove, yeast and some citrus. NIce, average carbonation. Dry finish. Taste is similar to the smell: wheat, banana, citrus, clove etc. *BUT* most importantly to me, not too much banana. Many wheat beets turn me off because of the amount of banana in the aroma and taste but not this one, surprising to me when you read the other reviews stating how much banana there is. Have I said banana enough yet? I wasn’t expecting much from this beer but it’s not bad, I enjoyed it. Some of the other reviews seem harsh to me but maybe it’s because I don’t care for most wheat beers and I liked this one? Most of them are Bizarro-Blankboys when it comes to wheat beer.

Bottle: Poured a hazy golden color hefe with a huge bubbly head with average retention. Aroma of wheat is highly dominant and banana is also easily detectable. Taste is dominated by the wheat and the banana with maybe a bit too much of the banana and not enough citrus feels. Good refreshing example for the style. A bit underrated I think.

Cloudy golden colour, slight musty sharp acidic aroma. Bready light subtle honey flavour with a candy nip of fruit gum like Wriglies Juicyfruit. Bitter after taste of dried out gum from an old card pack perhaps a 1987 vintage.
