Poured a fairly large head that dissipated quickly and pretty much entirely. Not much lacing either, which is to be expected after the transient head. Slight aroma of bananas, which is a lot more evident when tasted. The flavour is generally thin, and slightly bitter. Not bad, but not very special. I would have been happier with a 12oz bottle!! I didn’t really care for it (reminded me a bit of a German macro lager) but then I like more of a banana sweetness underpinning the hops, and more evocative spicy complexity. IMO this Schöfferhofer = intentionally cheap commercial beer, ie. nothing special here folks. Denison’s Weisse does the trick for me in a pale Weizen. beanmedic (324), Hamilton, Ontario, Canada

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Jun 26, 2005 Updated: Jan 9, 2006Bottle (500ml). (in a Hacker-Pschorr glass). Poured with quite a lot of bubbly white head, pretty little bubbles continued for some time up all sides of the glass. Cloudy, slightly orangey yellow - somewhat like "natural" apple juice. Cratering on the foamy head that lingered a long time. Aroma of yeast, cigarette ash, spice, hint of citrus - quite bitter. A bit like a Unibroue nose only more ashy. Taste was .. negligible. Some mild stale orange juice, hint of the ash, flat - even though it’s still bubbling away! - bland. *update* but it’s growing on me. Not even sweet or bitter, just ... there. Vaguely like a wheat but watered down and slightly citrusy. Not an unpleasant aftertaste, not much linger at all. As it’s 30 degrees and humid outside, it’s going down fast, but I won’t likely buy another, but I’d have one on a patio if there was nothing better on offer. jerc (3947), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 25, 2005 Pastel hazy yellow. Aroma is quite yeasty, mild lemon and banana. Hint of tart yeasty bite up front, hints at lemon throughout. Average palate. Nice but a pretty average wheat beer, nothing too special. Lubiere (4549), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 25, 2005 LCBO. Hazy golden weizen with a thick creamy white head, colapsing quickly. Bananas and lemon, with notes of sulfur. Fresh wheat and bananas comming nicely, with characteristics clove notes, lemons. Very sweet weizen with a metallic bitterness in finish. Medium bodied. dirkules (613), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 25, 2005 Sticky sweet smelling beer with a citrusy and lemony zest. More on the sweet side though. There is a frothy hazy golden pour with a sea foamy head. Tastes a touch metallic compared to some of the other reputable hefe’s of the world, but definitely hot humid summer quenchable! dortmunder (961), Herdecke, Germany
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Jun 16, 2005 Bottled. Weak aroma with notes of mainly spiciness and some yeast. Yeasty, somewhat spicy with hints of cloves, but almost no banana. This beer lacks flavour as well as character. It looks good though: cloudy orange colour, firm foamy head. But how this can hold itself in the market, when 3 of the 5 most avaiable weizens are Franziskaner, Paulaner and Schneider Original (the other being Erdinger), is a miracle to me.
