Commercial Description:
Schöfferhofer German Wheat Beer Hefeweizen is brewed in Bavarian tradition using wheat malt. The live yeast gives bottle "conditioning" guaranteeing a refreshing fruity flavor. The yeast sediment also leads to the "cloudy" nature of the beer. Care needs to be taken when pouring. Tilt glass and poor slowly. Before pouring last quarter, roll bottle gently back and forward until sediment is dissolved.

Bottle. Pours golden, with white head. Yeast on the nose, with citrus notes. More citrus on the tongue, with high carbonation. A decent enough Hefeweizen.

(bottle) upon opening the subtle aroma of banana was evident. Moderately carbonated, the beer poured a cloudy orange colour. First mouthfull contained pretty much all of the expected Hefeweizen character, although the banana flavour was somewhat muted. After a few more mouthfuls, the beer’s hop bitterness became more apparent and the wheat character remained. Mouthfeel is extremely watery, but this is not a bad thing in a beer of this style. Pretty reasonable example of a Hefeweizen, if not Bavarian.
