Tasted from fresh growler. This sweet stout pours a medium black color. Small sized tan foamy head. Aroma is roasty malts, chocolate and coffee, a touch floral and earthy. Medium to full bodied sweet stout. Malts are chocolate and coffee. Hops are earthy and floral. Nice balance. Lots of flavor and body for a 4.5% alcohol beer. Full flavored and chewy. Great session beer. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

Small, lively brown head with almost no staying power. The body is black and appears thinned or watery. The sweet aroma contains chocolate chips, vanilla extract, oats, cashews, almonds, heavily roasted grains and light caramel and lactose. Alcohol is nonexistant. The flavor is great, incredibly well balanced, with ample bitterness to combat heavy sweetness, light acidity and lovely chocolate and milky sugars. Finishes lightly roasty, balanced, with lingering bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, soft, with bouncy carbonation. Very good recipe, skillfully executed.

Pours dark with a brown foam. Aroma mostly of cocoa and chocolate, with pinches of raspberry and mint (I think it was mint anyway). Tastes lightly tart at first followed by a chocolate and ultimately rather vinous flavor. Wonderful bold finish of roast, deep earthy hop flavor, nuts, and coffee. Medium mouthfeel but very creamy and coating. Although the flavor had a slight wine-like astringency, the aroma and finish were fantastic.

22 oz bottle. Dark brown with a light brown head. Decent lacing. Nose of coffee and dusty brown sugar. Black coffee with some cream and faint molasses. Sour cola transitions to a fuzzy, oat finish. Moderate carb, medium body.

Bottled. Beer is nearly opaque, very dark brown with a tiny, white, frothy, rapidly diminishing head.
First impression on the nose is fully, creamy and roasty. The aroma is malty with heavy notes of toasted grain, millky chocolate, moderate note of molasses and a light note of oatmeal; Hoppy with a moderate herbal note, trace of alfalfa surfaces as it warms; Light yeasty note of basement; Trace miscellaneous notes of coconut and alcohol.
The flavor is moderately bitter, lightly acidic with a longish, trace acidic, lightly bittersweet finish.
The body is medium, the texture is velvety and the carbonation is lively.

Bottle sampled on 2/21/07: Pours a nearly opaque dark mahogany with a thin, spotty-lacing light tan head. Sweet roasted, toasty dark caramel malty aroma has a touch of earthy oats. Body starts fairly full and sweet with some slightly fruity, toasty caramel flavor and a smooth, earthy, roasty finish. A nice brew.
