Absolutely amazing stout, it won Gold at gabf 2006 and deserves it completely. Soft, full, rich, complex, creamy and ever so round body. Notes of Anise, cocoa, cream, vanilla, mocha, raisins and white pepper. Consider the bar raised for Oatmeal stouts. A GREAT stout from a GREAT guy.

Ya know, I’m sure it’s hard work being great. Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, Schooners Oatmeal Stout. Another awesome brew from Schooners. Pour is a deep dark viscuous liquid that has some ruby highlights. Insanely smooth and creamy feel while swirling around the mouth. Notes of cinnamon, vanilla, fresh coffee and chocolate. Incredibly well balanced, not too sweet but just right.

22oz Bottle from stoutlover72, big thanks for this one! Poured a dark black body with thin head. Roasted malt aroma with a slight coffee feel. First taste is sweet and slightly bitter. As I sip it it showed it’s unbelievable smooth character. This one was so smooth! Flavor is of coffee, Vanilla Bean, chocolate malt. Very nice aftertaste. Wish I could get a case of this. A damn good stout. Cheers!!!

On tap at the Schooner’s Brewery/Restaurant in Antioch. Served to me from brewer Craig right from the holding tank. It pours with mocha head and deep dark color with the thinnest edge of garnet. There is a big aroma of oatmeal twang, roasted to burnt malts and maybe a hint of lactose. Maybe the lactose I’m sensing is really the oatmeal melding with a hint of sweet malts. Inviting. The flavor doesn’t mess around. There’s bold burnt and roasted malts mixing with oatmeal and a slight malt astringency (might just be a vague hop bitterness that seems astringent). Toward the finish the burn malts remain and ride into the after taste. This has a nice bold flavor and a body that seems just right.

GABF 2006: Deep black color with a tan head. Lots of chocolate, smooth non burnt roasted malt, and even some fruitiness. Again roasted flavor with chocolate and some fruit. A relief from the typical total heavy roasted beer. Maybe I am not used to drink small sweet stouts. haha. The best part was the super smooth creamy mouthfeel.
2005 Vitnage:Drank this Feb 2007. Poured a clear very dark brown color with a small tan head. Chocolatey aroma with light smokey notes. Roasted coffee and semi-sweet. The flavor was more roasty than chocolatey or coffee. Mildly tart on the finish. Creamy dry bitter finish that lasts for a long time. Light to medium bodied.

22oz bottle acquired in trade with stoutlover72 (thanks!). Poured a dark black color with brown edges and an averaged sized brown head. Aromas of oat, lactose, cocoa, roast, light coffee, and vanilla. A lot going on in the aroma with everything working very well together. Tastes of oats, chocolate, roast, vanilla and verly light coffee. Nice smooth and creamy body. Nice...

Dark color. Full, light brown head. Very impressively aromatic for a low abv Oatmeal Stout. Chocolate, roast & more. Flavors are very powerful, with hints of chocolate and roast. Milky, creamy body. Nice balance. A A+ compared to other Oatmeal Stouts.

Poured an opaque brown color with a thin, tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of vanilla cream, cocoa, oats, roasted malts, lactose, and toffee. Taste of chocolate, roasted malts, vanilla beans, and a bit of rauchiness. Moderate carbonation.
