omhper (10140), Stockholm, Sweden May 8, 2008 Updated: Jun 12, 2008 Bottled at Monk’s Café, Stockholm. Cloudy pale amber, virtually no head. Fruity vinous aroma. Sweet with pleny of black currant. Alcohol is definitely there, but it’s not overpowering. Dense and vinous, fruity and very malty. Powerful, but still reasonably in balance. Better than it’s weaker brother, the Donnerbock.
bierkoning (4603), La Tropica, Netherlands Jul 7, 2008 Swing top bottle, bought at the annual fest on the Market Square in Denekamp. This beer now seems to be imported by Huttenkloas. Brown color, cloudy, no head. Malty aroma with plums and lemon. Sweet, alcoholic flavor with plums, lemon, licorice and caramel. The beer doesn’t look good and is out of balance, but nevertheless and interesting experiment.
