Schoune Bière de Noël

3rd beer from this brewery, and a lot better. Bought xmas market in Belgium. Pours amber with white head. Aroma is malty, caramel, light yeasty nose with a chestnuts like aroma. Taste, caramel malts, light cocoa and light dark fruits, remains light in body and crisp finish.

[2036-20090313] 375mL bottle. Plastic candy cherry aroma, mild. Clear, red orange body with a medium-lasting foamy light pink head. Sweet cherry flavour has a hint of plastic. Medium body. Fair.

amber pour, some foam, nose is sweet malts and some fruit, a little spice, flavor is mainly malts and dried fruits. decent beer not crazy but tasty, didn’t think it is as bad as the ratings it has gotten

Bouteille 341 ml. Une biere de couleurs caramel brumeuxavec un mince collet beige et moyennement collant. Odeur d’épices, sucre, raisins et une resemblance de vin rouge. Gout de blé, un peu de caramel. Une biere sec.

Bottle (341ml). Amber pour with tons of tiny black suspended particles, smallish diminishing fizzy white head (2+). Ah yes - the Schoune smell: sour lemon, dry, bitter, stale, boozy - naff. Taste - oh, Gawd - yuck! stale lemon, weeds, something nasty I don’t care enough to explore - I’m headed to the sink and I will try to never have another POS from Schoune again - pathetic. Again.

Pale amber-orange with a good, very fine & dense, off-white ehad. Some sort of spiciness, faint tobacco, peat (turf) - lending it a whiskymalt streak - and faint greenery. Soft-sweet taste, nearly bready, nearly not spicey; taste falling away fast, just a little fruit remaining (like a watery strawberry ester). Watery MF, light... de Noël ??? Whatever it is, it is not what I’d call a holiday special.

Bouteille. D’une couleure orangée légèrement voilée et surmontée d’un mince col qui disparaît aussitôt. L’arôme est épicé et malté, quelque peu sucré avec des notes boisées. Très sèche et boisée en bouche, présence de levure et laisse un arrière goût douteux... potentiellement infectée. Très ordinaire. Un autre produit décevant de Schoune.

Bottle: Poured a cloudy dark beige color ale with a foamy slightly off-white head with average retention. Aroma of weak malt with some funky Belgian yeast. Taste is a mix between some dry malt with some sour notes (probably slightly infected) and a weird funky finish. Body is above average with some average carbonation. This is an interesting beer from a so-so brewer but it is generally lacking in character to make this worthwhile.
