gunnar (508), Sandnes, Norway Nov 14, 2009 500 ml bottle. Pours light golden with a small white head. Weak sweet malty aroma. Taste is almost, but only almost on the sweet side, but there’s enough hop to balance it quite well and make it dry at the end. Sigmund (2273), Hafrsfjord, Norway Nov 13, 2009 500 ml bottle. as Schreckenskammer Wirtz, 4.8% ABV, at RBNAG 2009 in Vatlandsvåg, thanks to Gunnar. Golden colour, low head. Grainy, herbal and slightly spicy aroma. Fairly well balanced pilsener-like flavour, easy drinking, with a slight fruitiness and herbal hints, acceptable hoppy bitterness. KimJohansen (6801), Copenhagen V, Denmark Nov 9, 2009 Cloudy golden with a tiny white head. Sweet malty aroma with grainy and breadish notes. Sweet fruity aroma with malty and mild hoppy notes. Flavour was sweet and malty with caramel and hoppy notes. Finished bitter. Ungstrup (15004), Frederiksberg, Denmark Nov 9, 2009 Bottled. A golden beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of cardboard, malt, and some malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of cardboard, caramel, metal, and malt, leading to a dry metallic finish. Thanks KimJohansen for sharing. Papsoe (14791), Frederiksberg, Denmark Nov 9, 2009 Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of KimJohansen. Pours a clear golden with a white head. Sweet malt in the nose. Medium body, very grainy sweet malts. Hardly any hops. Clean and fresh. 091109 Allen (1328), Switzerland Nov 2, 2009 Bottled 50cl. It pours a clear pale golden beer with a tall, creamy, nicely remaining lacing white head- beautiful appearance. Good hop profile in the aroma where hints of lime, lemongrass and vanilla emerge. Crisp taste with hints of gooseberries and lemongrass. Nice bitterness. Subtle carbonation. White bread and faint lime showing up. Slightly yeasty. Deeply pleasant long dry finish which is reminiscent of lemongrass. A top notch Kölsch. I really liked this one. rosenbergh (863), Helsinki, Finland Sep 17, 2009 500 ml bottle. Köln, Germany.
Clear golden colour with small white head.
Malty aroma. Maltiness also in flavour. Some hoppiness too. Somewhat balanced but slightly weak and soft flavourwise.
omhper (12172), Stockholm, Sweden Aug 3, 2009 Draught at Schreckenskammer. This beer is reportedly now brewed at Dom, which clearly shows on the results It comes clear golden with creamy head. Fruity and rather sweet, a whiff of boiled vegetables lures behind. Rounded with fairly low hop rate. Slight salty bitterness. Though softness lifts it, and it’s far from being a bad beer, there are no real point in drinking it anymore. Go elsewhere for real kölsch.
