Very bready in aroma and flavor. Huge lasting white head with excellent lacing. Drink it in a German dimpled lager mug. A bit of apples/apple juice in aroma as well. Extremely smooth throughout. I’ve heard complaints about some skunky flavor. I assure you that the skunkiness comes from the transfer overseas. A buddy of mine routinely flies to Germany in the US Military and brings back fresh cases. Wow ! Cool bottle too ! *****UPDATE Jun 2004*****I still love it, but this latest batch was a bit acidic. Get it in country and the quality is great, no skunky aroma. dragon6103 (4), Ripon, California, USA does not count | 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jul 24, 2003 This is one great Marzen. Love the nose, and great lasting head and lace. Malty but not sweet with just the right hop balance. Malt lasts all the way through with pleasant aftertaste. Hits the right caramelly notes. Doesn't seem to travel well. Moved back from Europe in the fall and despite staying within the best by date there was noticeable degredation. Not skunky...but just not fresh either. I guess nothing beats taking a case of empties back to the store and lugging home fresh ambrosia. KAggie97 (2482), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA

Pours a nice copper brown, and the flavor is full of life and a delicate balance of spice and bitterness. ancherrera (161), Cape Coral, Florida, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 30, 2009 Pours brown with copper edges and tan head of foam. The aroma has hints of winter spice, coriander, cinnamon, plums, a touch of malts, roast and caramel. Smells of smooth blended aged goodness. The taste is much the same with smooth plums, spices, a light amount of malts, roast and caramel. The modest roasty malts sort of dries it out into the finish. Bierkrug (318), Idar-Oberstein, Germany
