500 ml bottle. Black colour, brown head that dissipates too quickly and leaves no lace, not what one expect for the style. Bad start. Smell is roasted, some coffee and a bit metallic. Taste is a little better, but very fainty, coffee, caramel, roasted. I was expecting much more from this one. At least is drinkable.

Bottle at home, 17th Aug 09, shared with BeerTart. Toasty, roasted malt aroma. Dark brown, with a persistent beige head. Light palate, soft malts with a bitter hint at the finish. Not bad but not a stand-out.

Brown body, medium tan head, rapidly decreasing. Dominant notes are caramel and roasted malt with hints of bitter cocoa powder. Finish is bittersweet with a lasting slight astringent bitterness in the aftertaste. Light to medium body.

Dark brown body and tan head. Light roasty malt, hints of coffee and chocolate in the aroma. Roasty flavor and bitter and finish is dry. Not very good schwarzebier.

(Bottle 50cl.) Pours dark brown with a reddish hue and a nice beige head. Roasty aroma. Flavour is pilsner with a little black malt addition. Finish some liquorise. Light body but good drinkability

Not bad at all. Dark brown color with a big long lasting beige head. Smell of roasted malt, coffee. Taste is medium sweet of roasted malts, chocolate, cofee and some smoked. Aftertaste is almost bitter-sweet. Light body.

Bottle brown, 500 ml
Appearance: Pours dark red to brown, strongly roasted body, body carbonation is rather gentle, head is brownish, cappuccino like, very nice in colour in deed, foamy to frothy, leaving gentle lacing, initially medium, slowly decreasing to small.
Aroma: Rusty, roasty, reminding me roasty white meat like the one of chicken, no fruity accents, strong black ashy roasted barley malt, classically simple according to its style, notes of coffee, dark dessert chockolate, some notes of cacao, no sweetness present.
Flavour: Salty and roasty to ashy front, later on nice notes of herbal - citrussy Pilsener like bitterness become present, very nice pure roasted barley grains displayed on palate plus strong bitter-tangy-astringent hoppy touches. Tastes in fact like sharply bitter dark version of the Classic German Pilsener without hint of sweetness.
Palate: Body is medium, texture is dry, carbonation on palate is moderate to low, finish feel is highly astringent, grainy, very clean, salty, slightly sour, mineral, complex and impressive.
