Quack-Duck (3129), Bodensee/Schwarzwald, Germany Mar 2, 2009 bottle. Clear golden yellow, large white head. Hoppy nose. Medium-bodied, pleasant malty background with some nice hops and a grainy touch. Quite ok. asheft (1374), Marburg, Germany Oct 6, 2008 [bottle]
Hay, grass, some malt and some ethanol in the nose. Clear brown-gold with some lace above a very thin, white cover. Metallic and grassy flavour with maybe not the freshest of hops, but a pleasant maltiness, once you get past all that bad stuff. Unfortunately, the nice sweet malt leaves your mouth and you are revisited by metal and a rancidy bitterness. Light to medium body, moderate carbonation, mouth coating and metallic finish. Geiserich (1775), Vienna, Austria Apr 16, 2008 Quite common Helles. Pale golden, small head. Hay, corn and some hops in flavor and aroma. Astringent finish. shrubber85 (2833), Wallhalben, Germany Apr 5, 2008 Bottle. Hay and barley malt aroma. Golden yellow color with large head. Slight sweet stale barley malt flavor. Very average Helles. kappldav123 (1790), Markkleeberg, Germany Feb 28, 2008 The bottle looks not so good. The beer in the glass is okay, very much foam. Starts modest spicy, not too dry. Very drinkable and good beer! MoritzF (4859), Bochum, Germany Dec 11, 2007 (33cl bottle, courtesy of Quack-Duck) Clear, golden colour with a big but not very persistent blond foamy head. Herbal hoppy nose with a moderate malty sweetness. Light-sweet flavour, light to medium bodied, medium carbonation. Soft-grainy, slightly cara-malty taste with moderate herbal accents. Dry and mildly hopped finish. Clean but very average. Ungstrup (14754), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jul 29, 2006 A golden beer with a thin white head. The aroma is sweet malty with an end with notes of straw. Decent.
