500 ml bottle from BevMo. Clear chestnut color with a small beige head. Light roasty malt aroma with a bit of maple and mincemeat. Somewhat dry woody flavor, roasty malts, just-ripe prune, clover and floral hops. Light to medium body, moderate carbonation. Very drinkable.

Very true to style! dryish, yet nice body, though not too full. malty and a bit roasty. do pick up some chocolate and a little grain. Color is an old dark cherry to walnut color. Nice big foamy head that settles down quickly with slight remenant to the end with little lace. Had this tonight at the Bodega downtown La Crosse.

Grass/hay aroma with some dark bread/biscuit notes. Amber/brown in color with a huge tan head. Flavor is very muted. Light malts and biscuit flavors with a hint of low sweetness flavor fruits and a dollop of molasses. Needs more flavor intensity

Bottled. Pours a fairly dark brown color. Malty aroma. Some chocolate seems to be present as well. Some slightly sweet roasted maltiness is present in the flavor. Some bitterness in the finish.

A deep auburn colored beer with a thin lasting tan head. The beer does look great in the glass. It has a nutty, malty, bready aroma. The taste is slighty sweet, slightly smoky. An excellent beer and one I would get again.

I found this as a six-pack. the bottles looked like Duvel bottles and only 11.2 ounces. I’m always up for a nice german Alt. Pours with a smooth creamy head that fades down to a thin band as you drink, but never goes away.....nice. dark brown with reddish hints glow in the glass. at first you smell roasting p-nuts,like at the fair then BAM!!! wheat toast and sweetened coffee. the taste is creamy with toffee and rum balls. light hops blend it all in on the sides of your tongue. nice carbonation to boot. this is one of the better Altbier’s I have had. Not as spicy as a Frankenhiem but definetly worth your time. I had it with a vegitable and clam stew from whole foods....quite tasty.

[on tap in Brooklyn, NY] Dark brownish amber with a thin, pristine cover which formed a nice ring. Nice biscuity malt aroma with pear and a little lemon and toffee. Noble hops are obvious in the flavour with plenty of toasty malt. Too much grain in the flavour at the end--needs some more sweet malt character. Light to medium body with moderate carbonation and a tiny bit astringent.
